Dash lights on after flat battery

I have recently taken my Supra out of storage and it had a pretty flat battery.

 

Charged it up for 48 hours and it's now as good as gold. Wouldn't start at first but then I played around with the earth connection on the battery and it fired up straight away.

 

Only issue now is that all the dash lights are on? The battery light, rear lights and some other funky looking light shown in the pic below. How do I get rid of them?

Check your crank pulley ASAP. This is one of the symptoms before they let go.

 

How and what do I check? I also noticed i cant use any electronics either without the dash lights dimming and electrics being slow like the fan

 

Swapped over a battery from my other car and all electronics work perfectly but the lights are still on the dash

Have a look at the crank pulley for the aux belt. You will see its made of two parts, with a rubber section and a metal outer that the belt goes on. They rubber seperates from the metal part over time.

 

Get some tipex, paint a line over the rubber and the metal section, let it dry. Then run the engine, and when its warm give it a few revs. Shut the engine off, then have a look at the line you painted. If part of it has moved your crank pulley is dead, and must be replaced immediately. It can cause expensive damage if it lets go. DO NOT stick your head or hands anywhere in the vacinity of the engine bay with the engine running until you have made sure its safe.

Ok tried the tippex and it seems fine. Left it running for 5 mins and also revved it and still lines up as per the pic

What's next? Alternator test I guess? It fires up fine with another battery but lights remain on

I recently had this problem. I thought changing the battery would sort it, but I still had all the lights on the dash whilst the engine was running. Turned out to be a faulty alternator. Been fine since that was replaced. Good luck getting it sorted.

Yep it's definitely alternator. Hooked it up this morning.

 

You still sell them @Chris Wilson?

 

I have VVTi one to rebuild, but it may need a matching three terminal plug splicing on to your loom, as the N/A connectors are sometimes differeent, would need a good photo of your connector or the alternator showing where the three pin plug engages. Beware Ebay ones, many are junk with the wrong amperage rectifiers fitted on a plug and pray basis.
