ripped_fear
EDIT I have decided to keep this is a sort of project/progress thread encase anyone is interested The day I went to view the car- So yesterday I took delivery of my new daily, a 2004 BMW 530d. I was keen to get stuck into giving it a good clean up but the weather this morning isn't set to last so instead of starting the exterior (swirl city) I decided to give the interior a good clean up. The car has covered a touch over 100k so obviously it has some wear at tear in places, but over all I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I thought Id do a quick write up as I know a few people on here enjoy the cleaning side of ownership. So I started by giving the plastics a good soaking in heavily diluted 'Valet pro classic' all purpose cleaner in a foaming spray bottle, once this had had a bit of time to soak it was buffed off with a low gsm micro fibre, the process was then repeated in the worse areas. Next mats removed and I gave the car a good vacuum, and some 'autoglym' upholstery cleaner applied and agitated in the worse areas in the drivers foot well, this was then vacuumed again to remove any residual product left in the carpet. Next all leather was sprayed in a covering of 'Angel wax heaven of leather', and agitated with a 'colourlock' leather brush, then product buffed with another low gsm microfiber. This process was repeated a further two times on the front seats and once on the rears. Once this had fully dried a light coating of 'Gliptone''leather conditioner' was applied on another short gsm microfbire and allowed to soak in, then buffed with a fresh microfibre. Then the glass was cleaned inside with 'Meguires' 'perfect clarity glass cleaner' using glass specific microfibre towels. Then a small amount of 'Grison' 'leather balm' was applied on a cloth to the black leather gear gaiter and handbrake handel, and given a buff once allowed to soak. Finally a few sprays of 'The leather care company' 'auto ultra leather aroma' was applied to the floor mats and the headlining. And this was the end result. Next up is the exterior which is going to be a time consuming task but looking forward to getting stuck in, then the mods can begin Thanks for reading

ripped_fear
So next up was to tidy up the exterior. So this weekend we got the car to the shop, queued the music and got to detailing. The exterior was decontaminated and left till the following morning. It was then 3 staged polished with 3m's compounds and then topped with kent industries finishing polish, after this I have since today given it a top coat with Soft 99's King of gloss. Here are the progress pictures After this I have now moved onto the fixing of the small issues, starting off with changing the front cupholders for new OEM units as one of mine was broken and the other stiff, I have now added a rubber boot liner as my job involves carrying lots of equipment. ripped_fear
So nothing much but swapped out the front hood badge as it had seen better days and have got a good few coats of top coat on it now so its quite repellent to the grime its going to endure with my job. Also gave the exhast a quick going over by hand, need to renew my cone polisher as its dead and then I can polish it up properly Trying to source a M sport body kit and a nice set of genuine wheels. ripped_fear
So the headlights have always been a little dull and the edges were really starting to go cloudy and graze, today i spent and hour sanding them with 400-800-1200-2000 and the 3 stage polishing them, then finishing polish and topped with a coat of wax. Came out ok not perfect by any stretch but a fair bit better.

Thanks mate, Im a huge fan of older cars so much bang for buck. Always that worry that age related problems will kick in that's all but so long as you have a good warranty or some back up funds they are a winner in my eyes. This cars has had some teething issues but were all covered so went in got fixed FOC. Nice work! Thanks bud
