Just heard that these plugs may fall apart at detonation, drop into the pistons and play with the turbo's??

Running 1.1 bar and had hoped to put these in to stop the judder/flicker I get at 1./1.1 from the standard Toyotas... anyone else had a problem? Just spent 58 quid to get them - denso's anyone!!!!:D

PS: Back from holiday and ready to pollute the threads with my usual crap...;) :p :flame Dev

He had a problem with a set of HKS plugs which are the same, but I doubt it was the plugs fault. This could happend to any plug. Tis also strange as he bought a set from me recently;) . I think he was probably saying that the HKS ones were not worth the money. I know a few people running IK24's without a problem.

If said person has an issue with them that is for real I would like to know as I am selling them.

Otherwise speculation is not very helpful. The iridium system should allow the plug to survive more punnishment than any platinum or copper plug.

2,500degC of punnishment to be exact.

We need facts like what the car was, boost, fuel, when were the plugs put in how long did they last, what were the previous plugs and what are the ones now used?

Yeah me! I know for a fact that he has only ever run the HKS ones & they were the ones with a problem. You also need to understand that he has run his car at extremes that most of you will never. As I said, this could happen to any plug.

I will call him & fill you in.

Thanks Thor, much appreciated.

I am running 1.2bar daily on my Denso's and haven't had an issue...other than creating a new exit in my exhaust! :D (bast*rd crap HKS piping)

1.1 bar is not massive boost. To guard against det get an FMIC and an EGT gauge.

yes... look sorry Alex... I am the biggest advocate for members to purchase from within. I bought mine from Matt Harwood, a cheap set he didn't need. I spoke to dude this am to have them posted to me> a long story, and he mentioned that at the weekend a discussion was raised over these plugs. Healthy debate on this is good, on all product actually and does not and should not in any way affect you > someone trying to help other members in the club with great pricing...; hands up who's bought on this club from 'outsiders' who wish to rip you off... I guess many.

Lets wait for Leon's comment > sorry Alex/John/Leon..

Right, spoken to Leon & it was the HKS plugs he Talking about. He has never run Denso's. He had a problem with HKS Iridiums in that when the car detted badly the ceramic broke off. He also agrees that most plugs would do this.

I know at least 4 people running big singles & high boost running these plugs.

I'm big enough and ugly enough to admit that my ears need cleaning and that egg should sit firmly on my face - that my user name will have to be changed and I should be forced to drive a BMW.

All plugs are liable to shag with detonation - so detonation is a bad thing - I guess for those of you who know me... you’ll understand that I meant no harm - harm at my age tends to mean a hip replacement.

All - I am sorry > a simple question incorrectly and politically put has caused an issue - for all those now getting a thousand phone calls - the beer is on me at the next meet.:twak:

OK - I'm all up for burning him at the stake!

Hands up all those for gouging and decapitation?:p

Yo - Mid baby - now you gone and done it - this means a ceremonial burning of the chest wig, huge nipple twisting and your medallion ripping from around your neck!

(never mind - John's got loads at home you can borrow)

Denso make the HKS Iridium plugs I have a box here somewhere from my HKS set (S40i, which are same heat range as IK24) nice small print where it says they are manufactured by Denso. I haven't looked at them close up together but I doubt there's any difference (apart from the HSK brand and extra £££), May get a chance to later in the week when I go to see the progress on the engine build.
