Samsar
Afternoon all, My ‘94 NA auto has been sat in storage since last summer and about a month a go I fired it up but it seemed like the ICV was dirty so took it off and cleaned it up and replaced it. When I started it up this morning it fired up ok but will now only sit at 600rpm straight from start up. I took it out for a run of about 8-10 miles. It seemed to struggle changing gear and when I got back I just turned it off and gave the outside a polish. I thought I’d go for another run with it before I put it away but now it’s chucking out some seriously stinky smoke out of the exhaust. It started off white but has turned black now and really doesn’t want to go at all once it’s in gear. Have I killed it?
David P
Try treating it to some fresh fuel.
Samsar
Try treating it to some fresh fuel. I put £25 of VPower in it when I ran it about a month ago so surely it wouldn’t of gone off that quickly?

David P
It won't go off in a month, but it would have in a year.
Samsar
One thing I forgot to add is I’ve noticed water dripping out of the over flow for the expansion tank as well [emoji22]
Mike2JZ
Normally black smoke is an indication of running rich. Grey/Blue smoke would be an indication of burning oil. Where abouts in Kent are you, maybe I can lend a hand.

Samsar
Hmm. Are you still running catalytic converters? Yes the cats are in place infact now you mention it that’s the smell .. do you think they’ve could have collapsed inside hence the lack of drive/power(yes I know NA’s lack any power to notice anyway lol) ?? There aren't many other situations where you get a putrid smell, but cats collapsing could do that. Cat collapse could explain your other issues too. If you need a ramp to use to get exhaust off then give me a shout

Samsar
That’s the only option really available. I’m just trying to source one or even go GTE or pre done NA-T
