Jam127
My supra has been stood for 8 months with frequent start ups, got it back out again yesterday. Gave it a good long drive and it turned off & on no problems with around 10 mins between cut off & start ups. However i went to start it today and nothing, gave it a jump start then drove it for around 25 mins. Went into the shops for an hour came back out & nothing again so, is it likely to be an alternator issue or battery? Neither have been tested as of yet If it turns out to be the battery can anyone recommend which battery to go for? Id like the top of the battery to be black to look more suited to my bay rather than the blue color my currect one has. Its a bosch battery which the car has had for 3 years but it has worked absolutely fine prior. Next Brakes, on one of my front brakes i have a section of disc which looks like its not being used. I have just resealed all calipers and bled through new fluid aswell, cleaned the pistons when they were out and the inside of the caliper. Over the past 2 days iv used the brakes alot to help bed them in a bit quicker. Both the pads & discs are new My phone wont let me upload a picture of the disc! Il try later Thanks! Dnk
Also try the online battery sellers, a few years ago the best deal i got was actually from my local Toyota dealer

I can't see the photo, but re your brakes assuming they are j spec ones, were the sliders in good order? Sounds like you've refurbed all the caliper/pistons bits but were the slider pins er sliding/spinning freely. Also the stainless clips pieces the pads go in were these nice and clean? They are uk spec, i bought new sliders for the rear only (were seized) as the front were in good nick. I did clean them up just for peace of mind and the pads were moving freely so i dont think thats my issue. I hate cars lol
Dnk
I'd bleed the caliper again incase its got a bit of air still in it or the line Does the car pull up straight
Jam127
Hi dunk, iv bled almost a litre through the whole system (non abs), when im on the brakes it seems to stop in a straight line yeah. I will however give it a go but again it was something i thought about
evinX
Sounds like a knackered battery. If the alternator died the car wouldnt turn over? Halfords HCB005 ive used them for years now.
Dnk
Its expensive in Halfords unless you have a trade card I found this place with a quick google search but double check etc, im not recommending them just showing options https://advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/brand/vehicles/toyota/supra/petrol-1996-2008/ Edited April 17, 2018 by Dnk (see edit history)
Jam127
Thankyou guys, iv just done the test where you take the negative iff the battery whilst running and it doesnt cut out so that confirms it is indeed the battery! Il take advantage of the euro car parts promo just now & get 33% off. £65 for a battery with a warranty so il go with that. Il update once i get around to look at this brake again
