Mgrene
1) do you reccomend to put a small layer of oil on the gaskets before reassemble (just like you e.g. do with the gasket in the oilfilter). 2) I have watched a video on youtube and the guy reccomend to put a small layer of silikone gasket at the front (where the cams are) as it has a tendency of not sealing properly in that area. evinX
Dont use oil film on the gaskets. Oil filters use that technique as they twist on and seal. Make sure the surface is really clean, use some black rtv in the front corners where it curves. Please dont put the rtv on the gasket and then push it into the valve covers. Put the rtv on the engine itself. When torquing them down i started in the centre and used a 'spiral' pattern to spread the load evenly. Google valve cover torque sequence and youll see a jaguar one to use
Mgrene
Thanks mate. Forget to ask about the torque that I shall use. Edited March 10, 2018 by Mgrene (see edit history)
evinX
No probs, 8.3Nm on Non turbos not sure if TTs are the same. The Jag valve covers have more bolts but its the same sequence to spread the load evenly, i dont see why a zig zag wont work either Edited March 11, 2018 by evinX (see edit history)
