evinX
Im doing some work on some NA engine bits i have, i want to replace the crankcase (rocker cover) hoses. Toyota are fairly prices for 2 small parts. Will normal unreinforced Nitrile NBR rubber hose be ok to use? as the OE ones are not braid reinfoced. Is Nitrile NBR oil and fuel resistant? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nitrile-Rubber-Smooth-Fuel-Tube-Petrol-Diesel-Oil-Line-Hose-Pipe-Tubing-NBR-1MTR/140693835989?hash=item20c20190d5:m:mMBu01U7HwzBmFVCcm3xAgg cheers, Kev
rider
The hoses didn't seem that bad for Toyota Supra genuine, i bought a set recently for £22. The tubes are thick walled to if you match that bending your own rather than using the OE shaped tubes could lead to a poor seal on the push on tubes. So you'd probably be better going for a thinner wall option. As for compatibility this is a good doc to save and keep for future reference. evinX
cheers rider, davidp also sent me a link like that, but i dont know what the proper term for engine oil would be as its the gasses and all that stuff i dont know that passes through. 22.00 is way to much to justify when you can get a meter of similar type hose for 3 quid. I got 9.5mm and 14mm in Nitrile, pretty flexible and double spring hose clamps to seal them nicely. Just want to know if NBR Nitrile is fine, fuel hose is good stuff but seems to be for parts of the car with constant fluid flow. Kev
rider
Plenty of liquids there, listed. PETROLEUM PARAFFIN OIL 50% MOTOR OIL Gasses would just be the lighter ends of above. You could look at liquids like toluene and phenol for more aggressive solvent type liquids that would be similar to some light end gasses from oil and petrol.
