Idling issue

My 94 NA has been garaged for year or so and I decided to get her back on the road.

I put a new battery on it and it spluttered in to life on the 3rd attempt.

It then sat there idling outside my garage for about 15 mins with no issues at all and got up to temperature as normal. I turned it off while I was sorting some stuff out in my garage.

When I went to put it away it started fine but started to surge on idle between 1500-2200rpm.

On Saturday I took it for a 40-50 mile run putting some fresh fuel in and it’s still exactly the same on idle.

I saw the ICV clean up thread so gave that a go but it’s still the same.

Any ideas on what it could be?

I managed to get it down to a constant 1800rpm and took it out for another drive and it was still the same when I got home. Turned it off and restarted it and it’s now running at 800rpm so fingers crossed it might have sorted itself out. I’ll leave it to cool right down and see what happens when I try it again

Hi I have the same problem with the idle but my mechanic has said he's checking the control valve to hopefully solve it.

I have a few other issues I don't know if people can help with. I'm new to this and this is my first post. I jumped on here just because it is one similar issue.

I have done a tt conversion and everything was going smoothly... Then this happened....

If I Go from P to N.. Rev counter goes to 4k then drops.... But engine doesn't rev at all just the needle moves?? Any ideas.

Also, if I get the cars running... Put into D.... Engine cuts off..... Keep cranking and when she starts up she runs on 2 cylinders and then you can hear each individual cylinder kick in until she runs smoothly on all 6. She then idles low.

I'm not a mechanic and as I've said earlier, don't really know what I'm doing on here, so if someone could move this to the correct section that would be brilliant.

Thank you

You need to start a seperate thread woggle in the tech section...! You also need to list more about your car, manual or auto, whats been done, was it running fine before, etc

Samsar, I would be looking again at the IACV, maybe try a replacement , but first

Vacuum lines, check them all completely for any cracks or damage, could well be that..

Fuel filter and spark plugs I would replace if not the above.
