Service prices

First off they charge you £100 per hour labour and then the unbelievable prices for Mercedes parts. If it is a Bluetech then they charge over £50 for adblue. Then you get the video inspection which is a big laugh. They all wear new uniforms and threaten you with invalidating warranties and not getting Mercedes assist if you get work done elsewhere. I will never have another mercedes ,shocking customer service and I hope Brexit hits them where it hurts the robbing B's

I didnt suffer so bad. They charge more for autos, but you can work out what you should be paying on their website where you can spec out your car. I used prices quoted from another dealer in Beds to help get my costs lowered. I thought the video service was interesting but a a bit excessive.. clearly youre paying for that sort of thing. I didn't like the fact they wanted to charge money for identifying issues before even fixing. I think the local price in Herts was closer to £130-150 an hour.

I just had a 'B' service on my Merc C class and the dealer quote for that is £739.33. Instead I bought all the required OE oils and filters online from 5 different suppliers and placed it with an Independent and the parts cost £146 including VAT and garage labour £180 incl VAT. I thought that was about right for the job. The independent charges labour at £50/hr + VAT. But, I expect the main dealer would throw in a 'free' wash and hoover for the extra that I didn't get.

TBH I'd expect that - boy boys car = big boys price sadly. If its just inspection take it elsewhere. Find a merc specialist or something unless the dealer stamp is all important.

I assume you would only continue with a dealer to maintain a factory warranty.

This is against EU law. As long as you use a proper garage and OEM parts a dealer can't invalidate your warranty.

Even my RS4 doesent cost that much, a normal service is around 300. brake fluid 80quid

No warranties to worry about, i was just researching how much this car would cost to keep

the FMBSH going that it has at the moment.

I just don't see where they get the price from, even if it gets a proper inspection most things on the list

will take minutes to check, my head tells me a couple of hours on the ramp job done

Err, I won't tell you what my vet pal just shelled out for a rear self levelling suspension problem on his big Merc saloon at a Merc dealers. I have never seen him with tears in his eyes before.... if servicing costs make you wince just wait until (not if...) something major goes wrong with it :( Too complex, and with their parts and labour prices it's easy for the things to be uneconomically repairable, hence so many being broken by high end scrap yards. Every toy on them is a potentially expensive disaster waiting to happen, and with everything Can-Bus when one thing goes wrong about 4 others often die with it. There are some good independents about, with much more reasonable costs and attitudes, (and some terrible ones), I would be looking there myself.
