UK Supra Auto up for auction - L636OWE

Saw this on CarandClassics website. Does not appear to be a member’s car so perhaps one that has been

stored away. Auto and seems done around 150k miles, also seemingly failed it’s last MOT. Auction estimate £9-11k which

seems pessimistic. Does anyone know it?

Im the owner of this car, currently the car is undergoing a full restoration, beaware of uk spec cars, i guarantee the cills will be rotten... the drivers side has had 70hrs of restoration an fabrication, the passenger side has had the same and is nearly finished, the beige interior has been refoamed and retrimed in beige leather, thanks auto trim ltd denton manchester. Currently spent north of 25k, not including the purchase price.... the things we do for our passion

Amazing to see your hard work - I know your pain. I recently bought a UK TT6 that underwent 4 months of restoration including full respray and I have had it for sale on a few occasions but a bond has formed given how much blood, sweat, tears and money she has had from me.

Be great to see it when it’s finished

If you do ever sell it, very few will appreciate the hard work and money spent, they just say your asking too much. Keep it treasure it. The Uk spec is such a unicorn, no manufacturer would reengineer a car for 600 units like what toyota did. Good bless toyota in their haydays ))

Well done for sticking with it but you knew it needed a lot of work but was it worse than thought?

I would like to see more pictures of the work in progress how bad was it?

That car was supplied by my local dealer (Previously Monty’s of Sheffield) OWE was the Sheffield registration letters (yes I know I am an anorak)

Tbh reading these threads I realise how lucky I am to of not needed any welding on my uk cars although many jdm cars will be rotten as they have been here a long time now too so buyers/owners beware

Still hard at it... just fitted the new rear diff cooler rebuilt by howard at mvrs radiators preston, lancashire, also fitted the refurbished diff coverr that was very bad and cracked.... also sorting the rear diff... just getting rid of the rust and repainting and cleaning etc... got a newish rear subframe to fit... off an import with 45k kms on it... much better than the crusty uk one... after 26years it still did the job, but very rusty...

Dropped the rear subframe... and replaced the subframe with a better condition one, rust proofed ( im using feratan its a german product, has an oxidizing agent and a zinc coating layer. Its about £24 per litre off ebay, works really well) then painted... rear floor has been rubbed down, had surface rubbish on it, rust proofed then sprayed with stone chip guard / underseal.. rear diff main seal replaced, diff rubbed down rust proofed and painted black smooth hamerite. Replacing the rear diff cooler pipes in copper 10mm pipe with new tubing

After 18months of work... she has left the garage an basked in the sun... just need to get the suspension 4 wheel aligned as the rears are pointing at a funky angle after fitting a new rear subframe bolts an bushes... then off to the bodyshop to get afew scrapes and scratches sorted... as well as all you outer plastics fitted sills and hockey sticks, yes toyota uk still sell them, but gave £580 for all 6 of them

It was on the road for a short period in sumer of 2020.. But it started smoking on start up... And i had already done the valve stem seals... So over winter i removed the turbos  and had them rebuilt and associated pipe work refurbished by midland turbos.. They charged me £600 for the turbos.. Then put it all together with toyota turbo gasket kit ordered from amayama. 

 

So its altogether and stated it up after priming the oil feed pipes approx march 2021.. Ran it for 20mins with no more smoke.. Happy happy to say.. Turned it off.. Made a brew.. Started it again.. And. 🤮🤮🤮🤮 It started smoking just as bad... 

 

So did a compression check.. Cylinder 1 was 155psi.. 2 was 150psi.. 3 was 145 psi.. 4 was 90 psi.. 5 was 150 psi.. 6 was 155psi.

 

So spoke to a few engine builders.. Then to whifbitz and liked the process they offered.. Dropped it of in early july.. Spoke to paulat whifbitz last week.. All the parts have arrived.. Cylinder head has come back from being stripped and rebuilt.. I have gone with a brand new short block.. I found a local vapour blasting company so the inlet manifold and various other parts can be restored to their former glory.. Agreed to some other refurbing work to the engine bat. 

 

So its probably about late August early September for from collection.. I advised whifbitz that im in no rush. 

So when its ready.. My other supra "800R" is being dropped off for a dct conversion. 

 

I will post pics of the engine when done.. And im sure paul will post of his social media

Well it sounds like a lots happened but you should have a pretty future proofed car by the end of it! Is it right that the reg is coming back to a Blue Land Cruiser? Assuming it's the one in the below picture?
