ADL Mark
Brilliant thread and stuff like this is what makes the forum great. Excellent work and great to see your dedication in restoring such a lovely manual UK car. Hope you have also made a full recovery from your illness I love threads like this, so thought it was my duty to share the story. I'll keep it up to date as I do more bits, there's lots on the to-do list, but time and funds mean it has to go a bit at a time. Thanks - ten years and counting! Simply excellent. Most people would have re-shelled that, well done for saving it. I hope he filled it to the brim withwaxoil and also that the rest of the underside was treated and undersealed as part of the process. It would be a crying shame if all that good work was undone by hidden nastiness elsewhere. Top work I did think about re-shelling a couple of years ago, for me anything but another UK manual shell wouldn't be doing it justice and they're rarer than rocking horse poo. There's so few of them now, it had to be saved. And yes, very well waxoiled! One of the reasons for the rust on the rear offside quarter was that it appears to have been repaired at some point and was devoid of any protection, so it had been sitting there rotting from the inside out for years. I'll definitely keep on top of everything now, have just spent a fortune in cleaning products to make sure I keep the paint in good condition. Bordering on paranoid!! Definitely get an agreed value with your insurance company if you already haven’t ! If you have make sure you re negotiate the value after all that work. Funny enough, I've *just* filled out the forms and submitted a load of photos and invoices for the agreed value. The valuation is hard though, so I think I'm on the conservative side at the moment, but will revisit that once the interior and engine bay are up to standard. What value did you go for, I would go high and then see what they think it’s worth.

I went in at 18k back at renewal in September, the car has been away since May. The interior and engine bay are 'tatty' at the moment, all present and working but not the best standard yet. The only UKs going recently have been high-end single conversions so I really wasn't sure where to aim. I'm thinking I probably should have said £20k though.. It was A1 Automotive Race and Restoration in Livingstone, guy's name is Martin Leeder. Their Facebook page is worth a follow, a couple of the company directors sons do some racing (one in BTCC) and they get the cars in there sometimes. One of the best to follow was repairing their E90 3-series (I think it is!) from pretty serious damage in four days, cutting out the A-pillar and part of the sill from a donor car. Top work. Kendo11
Great thread, incredible restoration. Not many people would have stuck with it like that. Thanks for sharing. Going by what you alluded to in your first post it sounds like you've been through the ringer just as much as the car. Enjoy it mate

I’d look at recent threads about agreed value as I’m pretty sure a few guys with uk manuals have 25k - 35k values do yours is undervalued ! ADL Mark
Today I finally found some time and nice weather to put the interior back in. Big thank you to Paul for the UK carpet, I had huge regrets from selling my UK interior years ago so it's good to start putting it back to how it was. So it's all now back in, apart from a load of broken clips and missing screws. Quite a few of the plastic panels could be in better condition, and apologies for the horribly knackered drivers seat that lets it all down! I'd forgotten how much noisier it had become without carpet and rear seats, so nice to drive again now! Now saving to get the interior re-trimmed in leather..
