guy fawkes
For some time I have been having coolant problems including some loss and it may be caused by a cracked head. I have been advised to try "K seal" https://www.kseal.com/uk/products/k-seal-ultimate and wondered if anyone has any experience with this product. Appreciate any advice thanks. Frank Bullitt
If you think you have a cracked head why no get one of the traders on here to investigate rather than try to fudge things in the hope it cures the problem? Being penny wise, pound foolish will only cost you more in the long term.
Dnk
Get a simple sniff test done by just about any decent garage which is cheap and easy to do. If that comes up inconclusive get a compression test done obviously more involved so a bit more money I can recommend a local garage ive used for many years who are very good and don't take the piss with the hourly rate, not far from Solihull Edited February 4, 2018 by Dnk (see edit history)
Mike2JZ
K seal may get rid of symptoms in the short term. Problems will come back normally after some time. Proper solution is to either change the head
Scooter
can you expand on the problems? how long, what happens when you drive it, how much coolant loss etc Could just be a weak rad cap for all we know
guy fawkes
Many thanks, would appreciate that. The 'sniff' test showed nothing but I'm told that may be because the crack is too small but it could open up when the engine temp goes over a certain point and I do find that the coolant loss fluctuates and after giving the engine a good burst there is gurgling coming from the rad head / expansion tank area ! jagman
So it’s not a rad cap , radiator blocked , leaking hose , water pump , viscous fan , soft hose , thermostat , head gasket ,timing but a hairline crack that only happens when it’s “hot”and passes a sniff test - who is this advisor is he psychic?
