Hitbox Junkie
So has anyone driven or own the new mustang. I see them around a little bit and they do look nice. So what are they like to drive?
j_jza80
Depends what you mean by new. I've driven a couple of 2015-2018 cars, but theres a 2018 model year facelift now.

j_jza80
Driven an Ecoboost convertible and a Hertz Shelby 5.0 v8 coupe. Great looking cars, and the interior is pretty nice for what it is. Not up to VAG standards but still pretty good. The ecoboost engine was characterless, but pretty nippy and good on fuel. But the convertible car feels very unstable during high speed manouvers on anything but a completely flat road. The Shelby was comically rubbish really, but brilliant. Even a slight dab of the throttle would light the rears up, even in the 40degC Nevada desert, so god knows what it would be like here. Very dramatic car though, sounds amazing, looks amazing, horrific on fuel, but i'd definitely consider one as a toy.
supra_aero
£1000 tax a year I think. My brother has one. V v fast off the line. Handling seems OK. I'd rather have my rx7 but its got a fabulous sound system. Very modern. Not economical. Sounds great for a standard car.
Hitbox Junkie
It's food for thought. I'm hoping its an ich that will pass as i love the supra. Cheers for the information guys. The shelby has a different v8 to the base model 5.0? Thats big tax! I'm just currently fascinated with the sound and looks. The affordability too. el_bandido
I drove an ecoboost 2015 plate for 2 weeks, absolutely fantastic car. Plus there are 360+hp tunes available, with a few suspension tweaks it could quite easily be this generation's S15 silvia replacement. JasonR24
I know what you mean mate, I’ve been tempted myself but I would rather the supra

Normal v8 but with a really nice exhaust system https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/jalopnik.com/shelby-returns-to-the-rental-counter-with-the-2016-shel-1766341233/amp

That’s only the first year, if it’s registered after April 2017 then it’s only £140 a year from year 2 as everything pays a flat rate. Pre April 2017 it will be £535 a year. ozz
I had one last year, waited 14 months for delivery (very early car) and sold it after 9 months. Stunning looking, turned heads everywhere. Awesome performance and noise (5ltr, only one to have IMO). Lots of clever electronics, adjustable steering profile (sport etc) and engine performance. Great handling - little twitchy in the wet. I only sold it because I just wasn't using it much, plus it was brand new, I was a little paranoid about people marking it. Was a waste having so much money sat in the garage so I sold it and bought a woodland I had the absolute black with white interior, awesome combination. The interior styling is a mile apart from the previous model and a real through back to the 69 stlye models -leather door card, toggle switches etc. Very big car though, fills the road up. Stupid amount of car/performance for the money.

Don’t think he’ll do the 2JZ though. I think he’ll up the boost on the ecoboost
Bobbeh
The 350R looks great, not sure how easy it is to pick one of those up this side of the pond tho!
el_bandido
This might sound silly, but if I was going to put any engine into the Mustang, it would be the V6 ecoboost engine. Those things are ridiculous. The full carbon body with one of those and a DCT would be insane.
