alanwheeldon
I bought the car with a knocking noise from the back end of the car and have found there is a gap in the rear strut which allowed you to move the spring up and down about 2cm, same both sides. Unsure what make the shock/spring is so do not know if it is stock?
evinX
Thats really odd. No tension against the top mount what so ever. Lowring springs??
blythmrk
Lowering springs, is there a coil missing/snapped that’s not obvious or is the top bolt not tightened correctly? Most probably lowering springs measure one and post it up.
blythmrk
Looking at the picture again it’s a lowering spring with dead coils at the top. OEM springs are pretty uniform in th space between the coils. I hope that makes sense!
alanwheeldon
Ye that makes sense. Bit of a crap design but if they are aftermarket springs then what can you expect. Doesn’t sound like there is anything I can do then so will either leave it or I will have to replace them? Doesn’t seem safe to me??
Chris Wilson
The dampers have too long an extended length for the springs. Or the springs too short an extended length for the dampers. Some dampers can be taken apart and spacer tubes added to shorten the extended length. But really you need to find which are wrong, the dampers or the springs. alanwheeldon
Thanks for the offer but if I get some I will buy new. Are the coilovers any better than stock, heard a lot of bad things about coilovers. I know they are about half the price over stock
