Supragal
Id be happy with either food option but I do agree with Tyson's point that with a sit down meal everyone is more likely to just sit in the group of people that they already know and are friends with where as a buffet gives more option of meeting new people, even if its just food related talk when at the buffet table it breaks the ice for future conversation later in the night so is easier to meet new people that you dont already know. Hotel looks good and only up the road from me so bonus Brilliant, can I book your spare room for the night before then? - - - Updated - - - Burna - what is the single person cost? Burna
Burna - what is the single person cost? I estimate £120 to £130, but everyone please be aware that all the prices are budget prices so far, and are dependant on what sort of day and entertainment you want. ShawnPreece
Brilliant, can I book your spare room for the night before then? Provisionally yeah will just check final details before I promise as I have done the friday night too on both wroxall years so will see when details are confirmed but otherwise yeah
Al Massey
Yep, the cost may not be for everyone, but all other places were £400 to £960 per couple for just the one day, so this one comes closer to what we've paid before. As to comparing it to previous years, I'm not looking to repeat what's been achieved to be honest, it's just a chance for us all to get together and treat our partners for a night/weekend The previous years is what has made it great to be honest. Chris Bailey
Can you make sure the bar is open at 3am please!? We like to have late night chats over a few drinks
Burna
The previous years is what has made it great to be honest. Are you willing to pay £400 to £960 per couple to get the same type of day as Wroxall? If everyone is willing to pay that then we can do it, but if not then this years will be a different kind of day, we wont have exclusivity of the whole hotel/site, there wont be entertainment like previous years, it will just be a chance to get together socially and have a nice meal and a few drinks That's why I'm putting it out there for everyone to have all the facts and decide if they want to go ahead. We didn't pay that at Wroxhall though and if it isn't like before or with no entertainment like before, than its £200 plus just to socialise at a fancy expensive place with not much to offer. Yeah that's pretty much it mate, Wroxall was VERY cheap, we will not get that price anywhere else, believe you me I've tried. A prime weekend in wedding season! For Wroxall money! Forget about it mate lol Like I said, £20,000 to £48,000 for the day, that's what they can earn from a wedding. So moving forward we've got to be realistic with what we will have to pay. Around £200 for a couple to stay in a nice hotel, bed and breakfast, 3 course choice menu with tea and coffee, Al I don't know where you go and stay, but that is bloody cheap! And I'm sure the majority of members who get away on weekend breaks will agree with me mate. Throw in on top entertainment if we get enough bookings, and everyone is in for a cheap getaway. Obviously some people will moan about the price, but others will realise the good value it is. You ask our young Chris Bailey what he pays when he takes Beccy away for example if you don't believe me Al, I think you'll have a shock how much this kind of night actually costs mate. walkerstrider
Just a thought. Probably not possible. Would it make it more open for people if it was just a function room or venue that was hired for the day? People could then book their own accommodation. I know it would mean the cars wouldn't be in the same place but it's always stipulated it's about the people not the cars. Personally I'm happy with how it is but if the price goes much over 200 it will put a lot of the younger owners off. As well as my wife! Lol
T2 MSW
We aren't going to have the budget for those I'm afraid, they were a lot of money to hire, and this year is on even more of a tight budget, oh joy for me :/ I also didn't think we had our monies worth from the arcade machines, not compared to the scalextric the year before. Would be happy to pay more to include entertainment, perhaps forgoing the bull for arcades. The competition between members made Wroxall for me. Not had our moneys worth????? they were in use all day and night Or where they ridiculously expensive to hire? JasonR24
That was my thought exactly, the buffet would have to be something special to compete with last years BBQ. I'm waiting on menu options, so I will know from that which is better. You are in exactly the same mind as me mate in regards to the food options, I can see it working either way, and maybe a sit down meal may be the way to freshen up the event? Try it for this year and see how the dynamic changes perhaps. In regards to the event moving further north, it was/is a future plan. I personally will never organise an event in Scotland for various reason that have been discussed countless times before, and I'm still waiting for one of our Scottish events organisers to arrange an event as had been mentioned in the past. This years party was actually planned to be in Cornwall, then next year North East, following year South East, and then up to the North West. This may happen in the future, but it's nigh impossible to find a venue that we can take over for the day that members will be willing to pay the ticket price for, they all range from £20,000 to £48,000 for just one day, so you do the math on how much a ticket each would be. It's great to see such good feedback so far on this event, and especially seeing as the cost has increased, it tells me that you really do enjoy what we have created in the past. I'll post up the possible menu choices when I receive them, and we can all make a collective decision on what we will do No plans on coming over to mine in Anglia then? ripped_fear
This has escalated quickly! I personally think 200 for two people with breakfast and dinner is pretty damn good. Most hotels are around the 100 mark at least around that time of year then a good amount of food isn't exactly cheap, even a premier inn these days can be around that price+breakfast. That being said you could have at least worked out an open bar
Spunkmeyer
Bringing this back on topic. I'm happy with the suggested event for the amount stated without the need to watch Becky boss the rodeo for 30minutes straight. Having said that I will enjoy using the facilities that look a lot more enticing than they were at wroxhall. Also I'll take the chance to go for a drive round mid Wales which is entertainment we all understand
CorruptSapphire
Burna The location seems really nice, kudos on finding the place, hard to find venues that will take a loss in peak wedding season and accommodate us. I personally would prefer the sit down meal, but happy with what ever the majority want to do. Having never been to one, as the last ones fell on dates I couldn't do. What goes on? Thanks CorruptSapphire
