p00t
A few months back, i was stuck behind a lorry which was helpfully letting stones out onto the road bouncing into my car resulting in a few chips to my windscreen!!! :( Anyway, cleaning my car today and i noticed a couple of chips on my roof and under my spoiler which look like their starting to rust. Is there any tips on touching them up, because i'm sure you have to remove any trace of rust beforehand. Also i don't want my car looking like it's been attacked with silver tippex... Supra_Al
Use Jenolite to remove the rust, this is like a gel substance that you put on the chip, leave for ten mins then wipe off, rust gone! Next use a primer on the chip, allow to dry, then 'touch up' with your colour, using 2 or 3 coats to 'fill' the chip. When hardened, it can be carefully cut back (T-Cut)......no more developing rust. Silver BTW is one of the hardest to match/touch up, base colours such as red, black, white and darker colours generally the easiest to touch up/paint match. Al. P.S. Jenolite is available from Halfrauds( ) and most other motor factors.
Adam W
Leave the new paint at least two weeks to harden before cutting back.

far
I would have made a claim against the lorry driver for carrying an unusuitable load - any kind of load carrying vehicle should surely be secure enough to travel on the road with dropping its load:conf:

I pulled the guy over and he basically said "yeah, no problem just claim on my insurance" and gave me a business card and his details. However, when I tried to claim, my insurance company (Tesco)didn't want to know cos I only had TPFT at the time. When I rang his insurance company they said he was denying everything. He said he'd never heard of me and had never been stopped etc. So, If it ever happens again I'm not going to mess about - I'll just call the cops and let the guy get nicked for carrying an insecure load. Least that way he won't be able to stiff me for £
far
well said mate - IMO in any traffic related incident you should always call the cops and if the other party wont wait around then its fine coz when the cops arrive they will write this on there report too - the insurers cant argue then ! I have thought of buying a cheapo £30 digital camera and just flinging it in the glove compartment just in case the need arises - in your scenario it would have been ideal to get proof. p00t
Supra_Al & Adam: Cheers guys for the help, i'll give it a go this weekend! Far: I'll bear it in mind next time. When it happened, all i could think was "IT'S MY NEW CAR, YOU C*NT!", while failing to skillfully dodge the boulders bouncing down the road at me... Asim
I agree with youz guyz. I keep a disposable camera (with a flash) in the glovebox to take pics of anyone that messes up my car ( before I rearrange their faces !!! ) Some punks tried racing me the first week I got my supe and smashed straight into the side of my car !!! I had to stop them seeing as they tried to flee and then forced details from them, then let them go but only coz my girlfriend at the time was very scared and lucky for them she was there ... Needless to say they weren't insured and were driving a stolen car but I didn't find this out till 6 mths later when the police informed me the details were false ... the police are still looking into it but I have to be patient, after all it's only been 12 MONTHS !!! Moral of this story: Pay the extra for fully comprehensive insurance, take pics if possible and always call the cops ...

Although when you phone the police and they ask what has happened, if its not critical (no one injured, no cars bloking road ways....) they dont want to know, as with me when some dozy tart thought that because she pays road tax she had the right to go all the way round a roundabout in the outside lane. They told me just to swap details and let the insurance companies do the work, we did, she denied, it went to court, and luckily I won, although I didnt think I was going to at one point. I went out and told the geezer not to go anywhere then I went back into the Indian and called the cops. They didn't sound very interested, so I said "I'm not sure but I think he may have been drinking". They were there in about 3 minutes. For some bizarre reason, when the cops arrived they insisted on breathalizing both of us. Even though my car was parked at the time of the incident. As it happens, both of us passed the breath test but I now had police witnesses to the guy admitting it was his fault. I wonder what would have happened if I had failed the breath test though? (Seeing as I wasn't anywhere near the car at the time of the incident)
foodfreak
you won't belive this! some dizzy woman reversed into the side of my car & just drove away. I got her number & had three witnesses. reported to the cops in London. The response was' as a matter of POLICY' we don't prosecute these cases to save resources. What a load of b**!!cks, they even had the balls to confirm this in writing!! as if it was o.k john
