Havard
no IMS after 08, so 09 onwards, kind of says the early ones had a problem Porsche kept denying Yep. Gen2 is the only one I would have considered. There are members on club who still say that it wasn't that bad and didn't happen to as many cars as you'd think, never seen the numbers though as I lost interest when I found there was a problem. I don't do unreliable..!! H.
Richie_k83
I assume you mean a 987 Cayman then? I don't find them that attractive in that shape. I have a 981 but there is a fair jump in price due to the age as they are 2013 onwards. Cayman OC is a good place to get info, bore scoring and IMS failures are not as common as you would think according to some. H. Yea, the 987 (cheaper one if you like) More within my budget should I sell my Chaser. 981 looks great, but price is reflected like you say no IMS after 08, so 09 onwards, kind of says the early ones had a problem Porsche kept denying Thats one of the potential problems. Things I have read about Porsche denying it isnt good, especially if you have one thats effected by that and bore scoring Yep. Gen2 is the only one I would have considered. There are members on club who still say that it wasn't that bad and didn't happen to as many cars as you'd think, never seen the numbers though as I lost interest when I found there was a problem. I don't do unreliable..!! H. It could just be the problem has been amplified through forums etc, so made to be worse than it is? My biggest worry, was if I bought one and had the Engine go down due to the bore scoring issue, I dont think I could afford to have it put right. Some repair bills like new bore sleeves etc can be almost as much as the Car!
peter richards
as with H I looked at a few , but all pre 09 did a bit of research then lost interest , gen 2s were expensive playing on the problem being sorted ,
