tbourner Posted September 29, 2005 Share Posted September 29, 2005 Was thinking while driving home (in the Renault) about pulling away in higher gears, the Renault really doesn't like it but I know you can pull away in a more powerful car pretty easily, even in 6th? Would it help 6spd 1/4 mile times to pull away in 2nd? Obviously you'd have to slip the clutch a hell of a lot more but would the loss of 1st gear ratio counteract the gains from having 1 less gear change? How long does the 1st - 2nd change take? Few tenths? Would you need to keep the clutch biting on 4k revs for too long to get any acceleration? Never really tried pulling away in 2nd let alone quickly, so I'm probably thinking completely the wrong way - will this thread end up in the "where are my turbos" archive? Soonto_HAS_soop Posted September 29, 2005 Share Posted September 29, 2005 A little off thread, but does anyone else have a little trouble when putting it into 2nd with a BPU+ car? When I pull off in 1st no probs, but stick it in 2nd, and with ANY way of dropping/slipping the clutch I get a kangaroo effect, but all the other gears are fine?
