Number 2 is late

I would have thought this was a problem with the actuators and VSV's that run the sequential setup. But could it also be through a tiny tear in the pipe work which is letting a bit of pressure out and making it hard for the VSV's to open as desired.

IanC is your man for diagnosis of Seqential setup issues - well he has a better understanding of it than I.

In your PM to me you also mentioned pinking whilst at high boost on your j-spec turbo's with a UK spec fuel system which is set to RICH.

If this is the case and you have set it all up correctly I would suggest that 1 or more of your injectors maybe dirty and clogged, did you get them ultrasonically cleaned before installing them? Have you run any toluene in your fuel? (Tol can clean as well as raise the octane)

HTH - compression/leakdown tests are always useful....

Usmann no dude not yet , i need to get the stock set-up running right first

Alex , i had the injectors cleaned but he could not flow test them , all the plugs are the same colour , compressions are all good, there is no pinking untill boost over 1.2 bar but only it seems in 3rd gear (high load), i think it is a pressure tank/vsv prob but dont know if there is a particular order to check things in , i just noticed something strange , the boost climbs to .8 bar when the 1st turbo is online but as the revs climb it falls off to 0.5 before the 2nd turbo comes online at just over 5500rpm then it hits 1.3/4 bar .

No symptoms I've experienced before so no quick answers from me.

Are you saying that #1 reaches 0.8bar normally, but carries on through 3500-4000rpm with no change in behaviour, then just before 5500rpm boost drops off and #2 finally comes in at around 5500rpm? As if the transition point has simply moved up the rev range?

Or is it that boost drops off #1 at 3500ish as normal but #2 doesn't come online until 5500 anyway?

Give us a quick mods list.

And it came away from Leon's like this? Didn't he say anything about the strange behaviour? Or was it just there for a service or something?

He'll be along later - probably polishing up his medallion and combing the Supra chest wig!

I tried Johns car out at the weekend - nice bit of polished 'bling-bling' rocker covers now in place - Cheers m8!

As follows IMHO

Sluggish take-off up to 5/10 mph

Normal first turbo in - seems to go to 0.8 etc

Second turbo just doesn't appear until 5500 - and then boy does it come in!

Mods - (probably others)

Uprated Injectors / pump

S-AFC (as per Leons setting)

Blitz SBC-ID (set to 11 gain / 70 set)

Checked the hoses - seem ok and connected correctly

Just looks like there is no spool up of the 2nd at all?

Someone please help the old boy!

Paul

you forgot

mines ecu

FMIC

hks induction

no cats

performance exhaust

boost is reaching 0.8 on 1st turbo but tailing off to o.4 then 2nd comes in at 5500+ and all hell brakes loose ,

The car went to leons for fuel mapping which has been done , he wanted to keep the car to sort these probs but i needed to take it home and besides seeing as how i am a mechanic it seems stupid to pay someone else to do work that i can do myself , Leon has told me what to check and so far i have done the following

compression .... all ok

the 3 vsv's by the turbo piping, all ok , i think im gonna find a bad pressure tank or a dodgy actuator somewhere, when ive found/cured the problem its going straihgt back to leon for a bit of fine tuning .

To be honest, mate, I don't know what's up. ALl my experience is based around stuff not opening at all, this sounds more like something is only partially opening...

When (i.e. what rpm) does the boost tail off to 0.4?

Could it be a sticking exhaust gas control valve?
