squiffy
I drove the car to my bros and it drove perfectly. I left it overnight, tried to start it in the morning and it just turns over without any hint of trying to fire... It's a 93 TT 6spd I've done a bit of searching on here and this is what I've got to so far Battery is fine All fuses in footwell and the engine bay are good I've linked the wire to get the fault codes but the check engine light doesn't light up (even with the immobiliser deactivated) I've also had a friend over with a code reader that doesn't get anything. I can't hear the fuel pump running so linked that in the diagnostic port so I can hear it run but it still wouldn't start so I guess I'm not getting a spark either At first I thought the Clifford alarm was playing up as on a normal day It doesn't even turn over when it's armed. Any other suggestions would be great! I fitted a new set of coilpacks the day before but I used it a couple of times that day and it ran perfectly
mplavery
Maybe crank sensor not giving you a spark ?
ripped_fear
Sensor, igniter, spark plugs. I'd be checking them as had a similar issue which turned out to just be plugs
Dave_Batch
I had this issue on my n/a and there is 2 plug blocks that run underneath the fuse box, gave them a wiggle and push and fired up, tell tail signs was no engine light, oil pressure light and no fuel pump... Took me ages to work it out...
squiffy
Cheers guys, I'll look into those things. Am I right in thinking the ignitor is the square black thing bolted up by the passenger wing?

Scooter
I'd always start with the thing last messed with.......triple check the coil pack connectors, did they all have their clips intact? Why did you replace them? ie was it routine or was it due to a ignition issue previously?

Why did you replace them? ie was it routine or was it due to a ignition issue previously?Yeah i keep thinking that and what else i could have disturbed in the area but all the clips were good and I changed them as I was getting a bad misfire at WOT. I found a broken wire on the water temp sensor but that died a few weeks ago and I hadn't had chance to look into it
berg
Just a heads up, the ecu main water temp sensor (green 2 pin plug) on the water neck will stop the car starting if a wire is damaged or the plug has become loose Its worth a check as i had the exact same problem and didnt notice until after 2 days of fault finding If you unplug while car is running it will die, try to start with it disconnected and it will not fire no matter how hard you try
squiffy
Thanks for the info bud, I'll double check that one!
chazuk
I had a crank sensor go once it stopped the fuel pump from priming took ages to figure it out ,in the manual it shows its linked to the fuel pump priming circuit , you can test the sensor doing a voltage resistance check settings are in the manual , the sensor wasn't cheap though around £
squiffy
Ive checked over some more connections, the crank sensor has been checked and it gives the right ohm reading, still no spark of fuel.... The ECU has been taken apart but they said the capacitors themselves looked fine but there was fluid on other components so I have purchased an ECU so i will see if that cures it! squiffy
FIXED! Just to post a result to this, I put a replacement ecu in it today and it fired first time [emoji16]

Glad it's sorted
