AC93
Hi everyone, After a new daily, I have 2 Supras for the weekends (one for Saturday and one for Sunday obviously)... I’ve always had fast cars as a daily (Saab turbos, mapped mk2 Focus ST, mk2 Leon Cupra, E90 330d, Alfa 159, Ibiza 1.8T etc.) but now I’m just after a super comfy daily, auto with a decent sound system. I was looking at C220/520d/Golf GTD DSG but they’re far too ‘normal’ for me... Always wanted a Rangey and now in a position to get one. Going to look at two 2007 FF(big) RR’s tomorrow - one is a 4.2 V8 Supercharged and one is 3.6TDV8 diesel. Third is a 2009 facelift Range Rover Sport with the newer 3.0 Tdv6. Has anyone here got one and can give me a heads up on what to look for apart for the normal RR bits - Suspension compressors and electricals etc? What’s the ownership like? Thanks all! A.C. sidewaysdan
HI mate I’ve had a 06 4.2 v8 Petrol and a 05 3.0 td6 probably the most confutable cars I’ve ever owned. But both came with the problems.. make sure the air compressor in the boot is fully working ie the the air suspension goes up and down with now problems.. as that is a£1500 bill also make sure the airbags/suspension are all leak free. Mine developed a electrical problem that locked all the doors and I couldn’t get into the car apart from the boot.. the td6 turbos are prone to give up around 80k. Other than that a fantastic truck pure luxury. . Drove both to Spain every year and was amazing.. would love a new one
AC93
Thanks! Usually I don't like silver Rangeys but looks thats quite nice
sidewaysdan
To be honest I had nearly no problems with the 4.2 but I new what to check for as that was the second one. And I wish I hadn’t got rid of it as it sounded and went like stink.
tintinmt
I had a 4.2 Supercharged and loved it. So did everyone else. Fuel consumption is an issue for some. Filling the tank is an expensive pastime. I'd say that if you can only have one car and money's not a problem then this is the best car in the world (supercharged of course) Best advice would be to browse the FullFatrr.com Range Rover Forum. After that locate a good reliable independent LR specialist - they are hard to come by. 06 onward have higher road tax. I'm biased against diesel, but the 3.6 V8 is good. JasonR24
I know several people who regret buying these. Total junk. Expensive bills.
AC93
I've heard mixed. I know people who have had awful experiences (even on the new Disco) and two others who have had their RR's for 4+ years without a single issue. I've got a comprehensive 15month warranty but will update the post if things crop up Been a week so far and I love it
fullthrottle
I have owned many range rovers at present I have the 3.6tdv8 model and it is brilliant and i will be upgrading to the 4.4tdv8 next year. in all my years of owning range rovers I have never had problems it's like anything if you don't maintain it correctly it will break and I think this is the problem many people have with any car they just don't want to spend money on maintenance
sidewaysdan
I’m not sure that’s true. I know myself I had this serviced every 12000mls as I took to Spain and France a cpl of times a year. And spent a fortune upgrading most parts and it still had loads of problems. Things you wouldn’t expect from a then a £60k car

I bought my wife a new mercedes glc coupe amg and its broken down twice with cars having so much technology in them today it's hardly a surprise
Dnk
Surely the days are long gone of the Friday afternoon car ? Really is hit or miss with a Land Rover, i know several with FLRSH that have had many breakdowns, i have regular chats with a guy in my local who is a Land Rover tech at a local dealer and the stories he tells are eye watering.
