RobSheffield
ok, i had this done by a forum member supposed to work (on pre facelift lights) so that on switching fog light switch on, the inner 2 brakelights of the 4 become fogs, and the outer 2 function as brakelights/sidelights however, at the moment when i press the switch the 4 brakelights and hi level brakelight all come on does anyone know why this would be? anyone with a wiring diagram at all? or a link to the wiring diagram so i can check them

RobSheffield
this is the link i was discussing - its the one used to wire the relays http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.betts/supra/TechTips/foglamp1.jpg
Pixelfill
do you have any pictures of your wiring? I could see all four lights in the cluster lighting up if you had cut into the Green and the Green / White wires before they spilt, but that wouldn't explain why the High level brake light was lighting too. RobSheffield
no pictures mate im afraid im going to check the wiring agaisnt the diagram in the link above, something is wrong! from what you are saying, does the green/green white wire 'feed' to the high level brake lamp? what if it had been cut into the green and green/white wires before they split, AND before the feed goes to the hi level light? Pixelfill
I'm not sure where the feed to the Hi level brake light comes from, but if the green and green/white wires have been cut cluster side of the light loom connectors then this can't _directly_ affect the hi level brake light. IMHO One thing to check is that the pins 86 and 85 are reversed on the two relays. I.e. the earth is connected to one 85 and the other 86, and the switched live is connected to one 86 and the other 85. There are some photos of my installation here . I did mine this weekend, and have the basic fog functionality working as advertised, my only outstanding issue is the bulb fail light, which you're not trying to do anyway. Mike Blimey thats the complicated way ! I used just one relay switch and it works fine. The only wire you need to cut is the green/white wire 25 mm at the inner left and right bulbs. Connect the source end to 87a and the bulb end to 30 and leave the green wire as it is. see attached diagram (courtesy of Les Shrives) hope this helps EDIT: Just make sure you have a good earth (i used the boot lock bolt) and then the warning bulb failure light does not show up on your dash board. I believe you can add some resistors to help this but you may not need to.foglight mod1.doc
Pixelfill
Rob, Have you managed to work out what the problem is yet? Mike
