Ecu/sensor problems.

Why T

Recommended Posts

Good morning guys.

A while back my supra decided to die on me. The syvecs went a bit mad and now the car won’t start.

Tried to clear the errors myself but they would not clear.

I have sent the ecu to syvecs and they tested it which showed that it’s not the ecu.

Advice?

All those sensors require a sensor earth connection back to the ECU (if it works like a Link ECU). If the earth has been compromised then it will take out all the sensors that share that sensor earth circuit. So worth checking under your inlet manifold (if thats where your ECU is grounded).

Otherwise, most of those sensors require a 5v output from the ECU, this could also been compromised in some way. Usually these things are a grounding issue though

I think it’s stock but apparently a lot had to be done to it when fitting the ecu. Got greddy inlet

From the greddy inlets Ive installed they usually have previsions underneath the plenum to earth wires to. So long as they haven't relocated the factory earth wires then they are probably there?

If not, then maybe earth wires have been put on the intake side of the engine maybe on the head or block.

You do not say which Syvec ecu it runs, so download the pin outs for whichever you have and look for sensor ground pins. Check each one has perfect continuity to clean bare engine metal. Check each sensor 5V pin on its plug shows +5V relative to engine ground with the ignition in the on position.

EG the Syvecs S6Plus uses pins C1nbto C7 for sensor grounds and sensor 5V supplies.

That’s for the reply chris. But I have no idea what you just said hahaha.

It is the s6gp

With the greatest of respect if you are not confident back probing the ecu connectors and the sensors, and confident in how to set a multi meter correctly it is entirely possible to do some expensive damage. So I would get a decent auto electrician to check it, it shouldn't cost much given the info the ecu read out has provided. the fix should be quick and pretty straightforward. To back probe without damage requires needle probes or for you to make some using T pins or similar. Don't go pushing normal meter probes into sensor or ecu connectors!

Yes you are correct chris. This is why I have yet to have a play as I am not confident with the ecu. Wouldn’t believe I built the car would you haha. But I did not fit the ecu so hesitant to back prove it.

Thanks mark. That will be a help.

John says we should get the car to his dads if you want to join us :)
