I "Waxoyl" my car every 3 years, you need a warm day and a powerfull compressor, the smell goes after about two weeks but you know you can forget about any rust, anywhere. Garages which are not heated and car covers only provide some protection against rust as in the colder months the surface of the metal drops below the "dew point" and any moisture in the air will condense out, a car port is my choice as most of the time the air flow takes away external moisture and the "waxoyl" looks after the sealed cavities.

Changing the subject, i have just fitted a bonnet catch, i purchased a pair but decided one in the centre looks better and does the job, the instigation was a fright at silly speed on the M65 and the bonnet lifed a couple of inches and fortunately was caught by the Toyota release claws. I have not seen many on our Club site who have fitted these as i think just one looks ok and gives you peace of mind, not sure what you guys think? Herbie.

ST205 GT4 is officialy up for sale this weekend :(

So I'll be looking at viewing some of the cars I've been offered to view; also keeping my options open if anyone else has anything they would part with. Happy to spend on an Auto or a Manual, just want something that's clean as possible underneath and has been well maintained, happy to do other work it may need to it!

Thanks for that Rider, I appreciate you keeping an eye out for me; I've actually been in contact with the guy for 48 hours, he's an elder gentleman named Andy, nice bloke having spoken to him on the phone.

I was supposed to view the car today at 4pm, however the snow was just too much for me to contemplate going. He was still very keen on me going up there and viewing and test driving it, to which I wasn't too sure about in all honesty. He's having a viewer to see it tomorrow now as I couldn't make today, and if it's not the right car for that viewer then he will be asking me to view it at the weekend I believe.

He wants a reasonable price for it, which I would have paid, but he seems in a rush for people to view it considering he can't let it go until the plate has been changed over via DVLA.

Hoping it works out for him either way, he seems very genuine and I imagine it's a good car by the sounds of what he told me about it

Its on an eBay auction that'll end before this weekend so that could be past the sell by date. The previous MOT history does mention rusty sills so it'd obviously need a good roll around underneath to see what's going on which wouldn't be my preferred activity in a few inches of snow. Its been in the UK for a good while so a little rust underneath is something to be expected. The front ride height looks a little high on it to for some reason, either that or the tyres are too small but it does look to me to be riding a little high on the front springs.

There was mention of a worn bearing on the MOT History that looks like it hadn't been attended to over the last 3/4 years.

I did offer to make a midweek journey up in the evening but he seems to want to shift it.

I'll keep in touch with him until it's sold, maybe I'll view it if it's not gone by the weekend even if it means bidding on it.

Otherwise I'll likely pursue my course of patience via this forum and elsewhere as I have been offered a surprising amount of cars already, a few I plan to view and am interested in too.

His asking price was £13K. I genuinely believe that to be a good price either way, but I'd be happier putting that money towards an example I've spoken about with someone on here

With the comments on ball joint play and rust on the MOT history I wouldn't have the confidence to bid before seeing it in the metal. The mileage is fairly high, if you take its current mileage plus an additional 35k miles in Japan which would have been on different gauges so bearing play is to be expected. The control arms are expensive so it'd be worth asking if he had the MOT noted ones with joint wear replaced or just boot pumped with grease.

£13k is a high end price for a TT auto with this kind of mileage and advisories.

I have been keeping an eye on your thread since we last spoke mate, was waiting until you had it back after doing the seals.

I absolutely love the look of it, and you clearly look after the vehicle to a high standard, but it was the mileage that has kept me from asking to view it, as I would use it every week I'd have a nagging thought in the back of my head that I'll hit that 200,000 mark.

I have a couple I was going to view soon that are reasonably close to eachother, so if I'm heading your direction in the next month I may ask to view it if that is ok with you?

Good luck with the sale either way :)

I personally would be viewing ellis's car without a doubt for the price and the way it's been maintained why not call up to hart and you could have it on a ramp too?

13k is strong money for the red eBay car as be assured it will require work, have you asked the seller if anyone has viewed it or is he trying to pressurise you to view/buy?

Just be very aware these are old cars now and not to be bought because they have shiny paint work
