rider
Halfords have a decent black Friday sale on this week with keenly priced socket set and storage cabinets. I'm using one of the Halfords socket sets on my current sub frame swap and in particular the 1/4 inch drive and hex sockets have had a hammering with no split sockets or broken ratchet. X13mgr
I’ve got the 170 piece. Can’t fault it.
and1c
Nice one. Might get myself a tool chest set in fact. Anyone know if they are stackable?
Guest Rsb
Good to know thanks, need a Torx screwdriver and socket to change steering wheel - seems simple enough but I have a habit of making easy jobs into a PITA
berg
Halfords tools are great, i have the 200 piece set and havent broken any yet, the hex bit even got the diff bolts out lol The tool chest sets are equally as good though, i have a set in black, very sturdy and a bargain really

Guest Rsb
Thanks Burma, good to know. It will be good having a case for all the tools, the number of times I can’t find that one spanner and curse myself for not putting it back last time! Yeah the case is brilliant, makes me put everything back tidy, as I'm a little OCD lol. I did consider getting the tool chests, but I don't need them when all I have is the case of tools, so I just use that open on the bench in my garage. Guest Rsb
Bought the 200 piece case, thanks guys. Don’t know how I managed without it. Slight aside but any tips to removing steering wheel without puller? Seen some vids online but wondered if anyone had some dos or don’ts please? Just leave the nut on perhaps 2-3 threads so it doesn't come off and you knock yourself out. Then pull it like buggery. It will come off eventually. A small tap on either side with a rubber mallet might help too.
Big Mark
Loosen nut, put some WD40 on where wheel meets shaft and give it some time. Then you shouldn't need to pull too hard.

Disconnect the battery if going anywhere near the airbag mate. Just leave the nut on perhaps 2-3 threads so it doesn't come off and you knock yourself out. Then pull it like buggery. Then you shouldn't need to pull too hard. Exactly what I did, left it to soak in WD40, couple of shocks either side of the steering wheel with a piece of wood and hammer, then pull sharply and evenly with your hands either side of the wheel to release it from the tapered seat.
