rider
From the rugged wilds of Shropshire trudging the sheep for a head count. Brought in by Maysie the Welsh Collie who didn't make the shot because she had to go back and fetch the rest in. Life is tough in the Shropshire hills. luckily though this field is about 1,000 yards from the local pub. So 12 dogs including the three pups... I have always had a Komondor, since I was about 20. Is the Husky OK off lead? They seem quite popular round here, and most seem to let them off once then after a day of trying to get them to come back, keep them on the lead Hmm, must do that ad for the pups although I am keeping one. Nice, Kangal Dog, never looked at those before, look like they get huge! To be honest, as loyal and compassionate as he is, I have never tried him off the lead and I dont think i ever would on that basis lol Never taught him recall, although We have a massive training lead to walk him on, so never needed to i guess. I'm not saying they WON'T come back, but I believe these sort of breeds (Huskies and Malamutes) aren't bred for obedience and recall won't be high on their list of today's things to do The Karabash aren't renowned for coming when called either, but they aren't as bad as a sight hound that has seen running prey! Yep, the Karabash are very big, but quite lean, not like the now grotesque English Mastiff, most of which are incapable of work or even running. Don't get a Karabash unless you have a lot of secure garden, and the neighbours don't mind loud barking. And don't even THINK of trying to make them guard, they are a handful left to nature, it would be easy to make one a liability, they need a lot of socialising to allow them to mix with strange dogs and people. Although some kind be big softies. they are much better whn over 4 years then between 18 months and 4 years, when they go through a bit of a thug / delinquent period, especially imported males! The best all round working, guard, family, obedience dogs I have ever had are the Giant Schnauzers. They just seem a perfect balance if you get a sound one. Trust the Krauts! He's very placid and chilled for a Husky, so feel lucky in that respect. hoping to hook him up to this Dog scooter thing the wife bought, so he can get some workout time in

Guest Pinnix
That's so interesting, Oliver. It must be great to work with such highly trained dogs.
