Weird smell in my new car

Hi gents.

Have a weird issue with my 2 month old Golf.

It has leather trim, it had the lovely new car smell.

I used the car yesterday as per usual. Stopped at a garage for fuel, jumped back in and got the weird smell.

It smells like the air from the inside of a tyre. I removed the spare wheel, still has the smell.

The A/C is on all time in the car, beginning to suspect that, but the smell seems to manifest while the car is parked.

Driving me nuts, the car has just over 1000kms on it, want my new car smell back!

Any ideas?

Thanks.

had a nearly new Qashqai this summer it had a smell owner thought it was tobacco when he first called me , after initial inspection it wasn't , but couldn't put a tag to it . I cleaned the complete interior wet vacd the whole carpet seats , done the headliner , put a n air con bomb through the AC . few weeks later I called him to see and its still there. he had a service booked so asked him to make sure the pollen filter got changed , still the same . he appreciated the time I spent trying to sort it for him but frustrating to be beaten this time . god knows what it is .dealers can put all sorts of stuff in the give you that new smell know that's worn off id take it back and ask him to look into it get them to check out under there could still be some transportation stuff still under there and is now near the exhaust , never know
