NJ.
Hi all After some advice, i have a 94 Jspec TT and i need to fit a 12mm hubcentric spacer on the front in order to clear the ls400 calipers. I cant use a bolt on spacer as the Impul wheels im using dont have gaps between bolt holes to allow for any stud protrusion. Therefore slip on hubcentric spacers and extended studs are required Ive bought and tried to fit these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JZA80-Supra-2JZ-GTE-10-x-Longer-Rear-Wheel-Studs-65mm/110788774979?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Ended up shearing one as they are too tight to pull through even using washers and plenty of lube Other options ive seen include ARP ones (which need modification?) or the Grayson Vauxhall ones http://www.tegiwaimports.com/arp-extended-wheel-nuts-lexus-is300-5-pack-100-7715.html https://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/wheel-nuts-bolts/grayston-wheel-stud Which options have you guys tried and are there any OEM alternatives? Land cruiser etc? Also is it wise to pull these through or is having them pressed in the way forward? Nathan
binfieldx
How big are the spacers? Don't see why you need extended nuts? The hubcentrics bolt into original holes then you bolt wheel into the spacers, so it doesn't require extended nuts, atleast that was the case on my Mr2 with 30mm hubcentrics
jagman
Basically the studs are wrong -there should be a slight lead taper and the splines are a fraction too wide -everywhere advertises these studs and none fit properly - you need to carefully file them down and add a slight lead taper - how much to remove ? -the studs are usually black and if you file all around the stud until its shiny silver -all round ,along the length of the stud ,it pulls in fine ,you may have to sacrifice one stud to practice ,so order one extra .-basically if black is still seen keep filing -its only the surface around 2-3 thou off If you just try to pull them in as is, you will overstress the studs or knacker the treads . by pulling them in you can "feel" them tightening as you pull them in and they should not rotate -there will be some max torque figure needed to pull them as a guide -somewhere
