Radioman
Hi Driving home last night the engine warning light came and when I got the code number this morning it was 13. Has anyone else had this and got any advice please.

Radioman
Do you th8nk it’s best to change the belt first?
fastcar
I would say it's more then likely going to be one of the sensors then the timing belt. Getting quite common now!
Ric
Yes probably one of the crank sensors. If you check the service manual on the forum (you might need to be a paid member) it will tell you how to test them with a multimeter. Chris Wilson
Clean both cam sensor connectors (there are 2 cam position sensors on the intake cam, and one crank position sensor on the front of the crank, bolted to the oil pump casting, low down on the RH side), and the sensor pins with a contact cleaner spray. Check mechanical condition of plug shells and contacts, reassemble. Do the same for the crankshaft position sensor connector which is remote from the sensor itself on a moulded on fly lead, up by the front turbo. Clear codes, see if it comes back. If it does get a garage to use a scope with a lot of memory to look at the signals from these sensors *AT THE ECU* Edited September 25, 2017 by Chris Wilson (see edit history)
Radioman
Thank you. The belt looks ok but I’m changing it anyway as it’s time it was and will def check and clean those sensors
