RobSheffield
ok, so Jake says 9005 in high/main beam, and your saying 9006J mr Rogue?! which one is it to be?!
Pete
ok, so Jake says 9005 in high/main beam, and your saying 9006J mr Rogue?! which one is it to be?! Believe Jake. It's been a while since I looked. Either way the Halfords ones will be too fat and you'll end up making the plastic thinner around the edge (well I always do) I always get them mixed up and keep both in the garage just in case anyway! Steve W
The JAP bulbs are diff' cos of the smaller/diff' 3 lugs. BUT, the UK 9005 bulb WILL fit both High and Dip Jap holes if you just shave/ file the 3 lugs SLIGHTLY to allow it to fit. You're right, the 9006 base IS too big for the Jap holes so CAN'T use it I've got UK 9005 90w Blue/Whites in my Jap HIGH. They give PURE White light but only slightly "stronger" cos the bluey glass actually cuts the light down a bit anyhow.... MUCH better than the normal bulb though ! ! Haven't actually PUT the 9005 in my DIP yet,. i KNOW it fits but not 100% sure the beam pattern will be OK. I WILL be trying just that soon though cos fed up with the dip "yellowness" when compared with the HIGHS now (funny, they seemed perfectly OK till i got the Blue-White ones ??) FatS. Nic
Correct J-spec bulb specs are: Low = 9006J High = 9005J However the J bulbs are not available in the UK. The problem is that the 9006J and 9006 have different diameter bodies (20mm and 22mm respectively, see diagram). To get around this what you can do is to fit a 9005 (HB3) bulb in the high AND low beams (you will need to slightly modify the connector to make them fit though) Not a problem on the UK spec as they are: Low = 9006 (HB4) High = 9005 (HB3)
Steve W
PS i tried the NORMAL wattage "Blue" bulbs and all they did was give LESS light ?!?!?!? The High wattage ones bring it back up AND whiter. Only SLIGHT doubt is that the DIP bulb has to sit close to the "projector" bit ?? maybe the higher wattage / heat will be too much for the glass ??? (not a problem with the HIGH obviously !) Would have SAME prob (?) with the FOG. . . PROJECTOR bit !?
RobSheffield
im looking to be 'bluer' though Steve - since i got HIDS in the dipped bit
Steve W
AND does it matter that the UK 9006 has the blackened TIP ? ? obviously using a 9005 in its place will mean lack-of-tip... Is it important ? - for the beam ?
Nic
....and for my next specialist subject HID kits; good quality kits and bad quality kits. Have I not sold you an HID kit yet Rob? and if not why not The HID bulbs will fit in the 'ole with no modifying required and turn night into day
Steve W
If you get strongly BLUEd glass and just the 55/60 watts it WILL be Blue to a certain degree. My ones are a pale blue and actually come out WHITE (no blue light at all) Although when you look into headlight in daylight the BLUEness is VERY easy to see (and you might say looks odd ???) (with them OFF i mean - just the LOOK in the reflector)

Steve W
BUT, not even my high wattage bulbs are anywhere NEAR the light output of the HIDs. Bit silly really, my bulbs are ILLEGAL cos they're too high a wattage, BUT, they are less BLINDING than "LEGAL" HIDs ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? METHINKS the law is a bit out of date
Nic
Rob the 9005's should fit in the 9005J hole? I thought your were talking about problem with dipped beam but just re-read your post.
