el_bandido
Why you dissing the poor N/A motor man. I read up that even the n/a motor is good for 500hp roughly with bigger injectors and cometic gasket and maybe different pistons. It is definitely not the worse engine option thats why Jessie said its got potential. I've got an NA. But the 2JZ-GE is literally the worst engine option the MK4 Supra came with. Not sure why you're getting upset, that's a fact. Never said the GE was a bad engine, just that it's the worst option available.

Not sure why you're getting upset, that's a fact. Never said the GE was a bad engine, just that it's the worst option available. Well yeah...you're not wrong, however instead of saying it's the worst you could also say 'The GE is literally the 2nd best engine option in the Mk4 Supra' too Nobody's suggesting it's better than the GTE at all but it's still fantastic and I miss my NA. Didn't have to worry about it, was reliable and I drove it like I stole it at times yet it was predictable and just a joy in every way. It sounded absolutely brilliant too! Oh and when driving along people were mesmerised by the looks, the drama, the noise. It attracted just as much attention as one with 700bhp if both were cruising at 50mph
mplavery
I thought this is why some people disliked the N/A Autos

supra_aero
Most of the hate I see for the 2JZ-GE and the Supra comes from people who have never driven them and don't have any real knowledge about them. At the end of the day we have cooler cars than they do so they can keep their opinions to themselves Yes that. And I personally think tt s are now over priced tbh. Cool as they are the price gap is not worth the performance is my 2 cents.
Dave
I love mine wouldn't swap it ,it always bring a smile to my face when im driving it ,the haters can go @@@@ off ,not saying that if I had the cash I wouldn't drop a tt in ,but I haven't so thats life .its still a mkiv supra and its white:p Edited September 19, 2017 by Dave (see edit history)

Cool as they are the price gap is not worth the performance is my 2 cents. Yeah, I think I referred to this above. I'm on my 6th MKIV, two of which were TT's but £100 per additional 1hp!!!! No thank you. Let's face it, in the world of modern cars the TT (with original compression!) is no great shakes anyway. You'd be left by a Ford Focus RS Edited September 19, 2017 by brassbones (see edit history)
fullthrottle
The price of tt's is as it should it's only because the market got flooded with inferior na and tt models, plus chav bodykits the sooner more get scrapped or smashed the better I say to be inline with the r34 which the supra truly deserves

No thank you. Let's face it, in the world of modern cars the TT (with original compression!) is no great shakes anyway. You'd be left by a Ford Focus RS Cant really compare a 90s car to a ST though, you need to compare them to the old RS's in the 90s which would be the Escorts and Fiestas lol TT's are worth in IMO .. as you know its cheap and easy to get them to just over 400bhp which is nothing to be shy about for a tag price of 13-15k for a Auto 25k for a reliable 600-700bhp car now that's crazy for a 90's car ... That's why a lot of people love them and known for Feels like the TT are now getting stick lol just remember why the Supra is famous as it is .. If they only done N/A's I can guarantee most of us wouldn't be here lol I don't know why N/A owners are worried what others say .. What ever car you have there be someone disliking it .. I have a yellow car, some people wouldn't be seen dead in a yellow car lol Edited September 20, 2017 by mplavery (see edit history)
Chris Wilson
I used to tell people my TT was an N/A and I put a diesel badge on my 350BHP Colt Sapporo turbo.... I also tell people my wife is a lovely person, and my dog doesn't bite. I just love surprising people....

Chris Wilson
A rat has eaten the coil pack wires so I have had to make a new loom, and now the battery is dead, and a fuel line has gone porous, an old rubber lined braided one, they don't like modern unleaded, so I have cut a length of Teflon lined, and set aside new fittings. It has moved about, let me see, 60 feet in 18 months.... Anyway, the dog appears to have caught the rat, it was outside his kennel when I heard a racket at two the other morning Good lad! Bender
Any Supra owner must be prepared for questions from random people at petrol station car parks etc. some of them really dont care what is under the bonnet the some of them asking its is a famous 2JZ and rest of them asking if it a turbo and i always told them its a non turbo as i used it everyday and need something more economical than turbo supra but there is absolutely no hate what so ever they all says same thing at the end amazing car. Even if i had just 5 speed manual na i love it to bits that moment when you sit inside and that feeling its all what i care about i driving my dream car and who cares it dobt have 400BHP or some new diesels can overtake it etc at the end you are the one who own a Supra Wysłane z mojego SM-G950F przy użyciu Tapatalka
Chris Bailey
We get people come over to look at dads supra at shows, they can see it has a nice big shiny single turbo and love it, but then they look in the interior and reliase its an auto and walk away! Happens at every show!
supra_aero
I must be honest it is strange why toyota didnt just make them all turbo s like rx7s. I wonder what the price difference was when new.
Scooter
The 300zx was both, I think perhaps the RX7 with a non turbo rotary might have been a bit low on torque? The NA back in it's day was I'm sure more than adequate, the turbo with tweaks a rocket ship. Power is not everything and an NA is fun and capable whilst in a straight line matched/eclipsed by some modern mundane/white goods machinery. But it's like saying why have an MX5 or even a GT86 if a mapped 320D can pee all over you, well they give you something else don't they, performance is just one element which is more important to some than others. Suprakeith
I have to say I have found the opposite, i have only had the odd few slate my supra for being na manual, I have found more hate on here to be honest as a lot of the tt people tend to look down on people with na engine. I have to say I absolutely love my na and she is great fun. And was my daily for 3 1/2 years.
nolizma
I had a lot of comments from strangers almost always positive. You can tell when someone is being mean just out of jealousy. Its also how you take it. People ask me what BHP? They always ask twice as if they didn't hear. Mine is na too. Sometimes it's a bit too much the attention the supra gets. I had people following me just to be around the car..
Dnk
I have nothing against NA supra's and really wouldn't give the time of day to anyone that was slagging my car off, i very nearly bought an NA aerotop not so long ago, but saying that for me the difference is worth every penny extra that a nice BPU'd Supra will cost. We had a test day at Castle Coombe a few years ago and my supra was parked up by the race car transporter and two guys were having a look round my car, i heard one say nice car but shame its an auto. I offered to take him out in it but sadly he declined Edited September 21, 2017 by Dnk (see edit history)
Scooter
For me if there was a sort of TT plague and only NA's were left I'd have one over other more powerful cars, but for some TT owners they certainly wouldn't and a small % of those will have a dim view of NA's However this forum and in general owners (& ex owners) of a car like this (let's face it it's a Toyota and has no real badge snob kudos!) in my experience tend to be the type who will except people for who they are and in the main very friendly helpful towards eachother. The odd NA/TT Auto/Manual 'hating' thread comes up and the opinionated and sensitive get a bit vocal!!! Supra Hugs all round lol except anybody with an ugly widebody Supra as they are just too fat!!
