Starter Guitar

Greetings,

I messed around with guitars a fair few years back and want to get back into it. Start from scratch and build my technique.

I was thinking of this but wondered if its not the best starter guitar :-

I know there are a few players on here, all thoughts welcome.

That's a pretty nice guitar to get going with! The SA is very thin bodied and light. Quite a balanced tone and good versatility given the HSS pickup configuration too.

Ibanez necks are very thin as well, so it is quite easy to navigate the fretboard without too much trouble.

They look good as well, so it is a good option all round.

Looks quite a nice guitar,my advice would be get into your local music shop and get your hands on whatever you fancy, see if the neck and action suit you and plug it in to get a good idea of sounds. You may also find some nice second hand guitars for sale which would let you step up in quality.Other than cars I love guitars and love browsing music shops, enjoy !:)

I started on a squire stratocaster back in 1994. I would like to say I still had it but a 'friend' who was borrowing it years ago sold it to cash generator to get some money for weed. I found the same model, same year, made in the same place and bought it again recently to go with my others....so I kind of still have it

That Ibanez should make a great guitar IMHO, and if you like the look of it i'd say you cant go wrong. As others have said very versatile, and rock type (thin, flat) necks tend to be easier for beginners IMHO.

The re-sale, should you want to sell would be less % than something like a run of the mill fender or squier, but I personally think getting what you want is more important than that- and inspires you to play more.

I always recommend people to buy the best they can relistically afford and i'll stick with that- but- bear in mind £1-200 guitars are quite a lot better than they were 20 years ago! Good comments on amps above too- budget for the whole rig.

Good luck and keep us posted how you get on
