Tyres

I need new tyres. The rear are a little wider than the average, 315 30 18.

The range of tyres available is limited but all the online tyre sellers offer tyres of that size, typically Pirelli and Michelin. However they are all stated as being for specific cars, mostly Porsche.

I have spoken to the customer service of one who tell me that they will sell me the tyres but that I would have to sign a disclaimer stating that I acknowledge that I am purchasing non-compliant tyres and I am waiving any right to claim if as a consequence they don't perform.

Does that all makes sense? Is there really that much difference if the tyres are specifically designed for one car make? I cannot find any tyres of that size that are not make specific.

Any insight would be helpful' particularly from anyone who is running "non-compliant" tyres.

Sorry, just noticed I've put this in the wrong section!!

I've got "mercedes fitment" tyres on mine, I didn't have to sign any waivers getting them fitted and they feel nice on my car.

Some people say that they have slightly different compounds or designs depending on the manufacturer but I haven't seen any definitive info on this.
