AlexJames
Im in the middle of redecorating our house and to make the hallway see more spacious I wanted to convert the stairs by taking the vertical risers out. (example: as in the picture) I don't think they have any structural implications but I thought Id ask the question first. Has anyone had any experience with this? neilp9876
I don't think you need the risers, just don't let babies climb the stairs as they may go through!
AlexJames
Thats a good point, I do have a little one... not walking yet thought. Perhaps I could put long dowels in the centers to fill it out a bit?
Hitbox Junkie
If the stairs are designed with them, they could have some structural value to them. As said above little ones falling through them would be a bad idea, i guess you could use a stair gate, along with little ones dogs could possibly go through them too. Maybe using perspex or glass so it gives the illusion of it not being there. You could also add mirrors to open the space up.
AlexJames
We are using mirrors to help, and we will probably end up having a stair gate too. I wouldn't anticipate our little one going up and down the stairs without us anyway. The cats could always slip through, but they deserve their fate
