supra87
Right guys having a right farse trying to fix this rattle that's accuring. Iv just had the bottom end rebuilt as me and the mechanic was certain this was the issue there was some wear on 2 of the main crank bearings that needed attention so all replaced with acl race bearings put engine bk in yesterday ran it up and I'm still geting a very faint rattle that sounds like it's coming from the torque converter it only happens just above idle between 800-1000rpm my mechanic is going to get it bk on the lift today to try and pin point the rattle hopefully has anyone come accross this before are the torque converters known for making these noises? Scooter
I'd thoroughly check any exhaust bits you've reused in case of rattling shields/casings. I've not heard of many/any(?) torque convertor rattle thread, flywheels on the manuals yes
Mike2JZ
Remove the rubber inspection hole at the rear of the sump and check the torque on the torque converter bolts.
supra87
Nothing loose on the exhaust all bolts tightened up on the torque converter as it's only just been put bk in after bottom end rebuild it's rattling from something spinning and coming from the rear of the engine so the only thing I cab think it must be is the torque converter when sat in the car it can't be herd there's no unwanted vibration felt inside the car
scott.wild
I had a rattle from the replace, you have had it all apart so unlikely it's that. Can you run the engine with no gearbox connected?
