pete.osborne69
Failing that lift the said side off the floor with a Jack and put your hands at either side of the shell and rock it from side to side without turning it do the same with your hands at the top and bottom rocking back and forth and see if the wheel has any play in it
jza800
I have checked the top bolts.. they are torque to spec..

pete.osborne69
I have checked the top bolts.. they are torque to spec.. Try the wheel rocking that will tell you if it is a upper/lower Ball joint or the wheel bearing

jza800
How to check them???
pete.osborne69
Raise the front end and grab the anti-roll bar near where the drop link connects to it and try pulling down on it If it's stiff it is fine if not the drop links need replacing

rider
I had a really annoying knock on the front going over rough roads a few years back. No wear on the ball joint. Replaced all the struts and still had it. Then changed the discs and pads and noise gone, never to return. It was a knock that was louder and more likely to occur when turning left, for some unknown reason.

Dnk
Does it do it if you turn when moving and apply the brakes ?

jza800
no it dosent.. only when turning.. eks, when i go to a roundabout and go in and out off it, sometims there comes a knock sometimes not.. it sounds like a spring on the strut turning a littlebit. but the spring and strut are new, and i did it too with the old spring and strut.. Thomas.B
If it only comes when turning is it only when turning one direction or both? Don't really know the english word but have you checked the "control arm joint" ?
Chris Wilson
Check the top wishbone inner through bolt tightness, undo before re torquing to free the threads. Neither the springs nor dampers rotate when turning, forget them.
rider
mine only occur when i turn at low speeds, never over bumps or normal driving.. and only when the car moves, if it stands still and i turn the wheel no knock.. I put mine down to probably a slightly warped disc moving the pad on the wheel rotation generating the knocking noise. It never occured at high speed only sub 30mph. Its easy enough to check if the discs are true by spinning the wheels with a something resting at 90 degrees onto the disc. Wheels off the ground its easier to check other things like your joints and wheel bearing condition as well as they can all lead to knocks and noises. jza800
Is it the long bolt you mean, if yes, that have been out to change the struts. so they are not torque but touque as good as i could by handtools...

jza800
hmm this is strange, i have checked everything now, and i seems like it comes from the brakes.. because if i touch the brake and brake the car, the squeak diserapers alot.. someone had the same problem??? if i go at low speed and turn quikly from side to side, it squeaks, but as soon as i brake the car, it close to diserapers..
