I did hear this from a more reputable news site recently, something to do with freeing up the movement on traffic to attempt to reduce pollution.

A study came out last year on the effects speed bumps have on emissions and it was proven that removing all speed bumps would greatly reduce car emissions which creates a bigger saving for councils.

 

Not just speed bumps either, but traffic calming and certain speed camera locations.

Apparently they will as not only does it save them money installing and fixing speed bumps, but they can easily achieve better CO2 targets with this method alone.

As the councils appear to be skint how are they going to pay to remove the humps, they can't even fill in potholes round here

because there's no cash to do it

 

Can't see it being high on their to do list unless made too by government etc

It was a government funded survey I think and it is part of their plan to reduce emissions.

And if the councils say they don't have money for potholes, they are lying as the government gave more money to fix the roads to all councils.

I would volunteer to help remove them. I also think they should put speed cameras either end of school entrances.
