There are lots of interesting forum discussions on this topic, as a chef I do think the authentic wood fired 90 seconds to cook at 800oF pizza with charred blistering and smoky flavour to be one of the best tastes and textures every, however achieving this in a home scenario with wood alone is not quite that straight forward. It is also worth noting that the oven is only part of the deal, you need a great dough, sauce and toppings

Getting a home unit to this temperature is challenging and can take 1-2 hours with wood alone, adding a gas jet will speed up the process and you can still add wood for smoke and taste. Clay or brick ovens done like getting wet in rain and also benefit from very regular use, they also dislike frost and extreme cold

If none of this puts you off then you will be very popular at BBQ's at home and we used our wood fired oven (commercial) for cooking many other foods along with pizza

Someone who works for me is building one on the cheap from bricks and then doing a clay coating. I think this looks way better than the mosaic eBay one you linked and its not a great deal more in terms of cost.

Kits are a big outlay though for something that'd get used how often? Its a fair bit of faffing around to get it fired up and up to temperature. It would also need to be fired up regularly to minimise the chance of cracking. But, the rarity would sure make your hosted events a hit.

Yeah I've Seen quite a few different ones and looking back at them the tiled look isn't very appealing. The ones I've looked at all come fully built so just a case of building a nice frame for it to sit on.. in turms of use it would be most weekends as we love a good BBQ in my house. I also have a huge smoker witch is great for big BBQ's . Couple of my mates have built them but at quite a high cost but they did say it takes some time to get up to temp but normally around 40mins then fantastic

500kg, you'll need some rollers to get the weight moved around, Or one Eddie Hall, he lifted 500kg on his own. Have a word with one of your local building supplies companies as they will all have HiaB trucks. Go for a regional one rather than a National chain as they get very jobsworth. Might help if you buy some gravel or bricks to build or beautify the dining area and then say to the driver, while you are here see that big lump there!. A £20 tip works wonders to with these guys. Mind you, you are in Bucks, make that £40.
