Possible Clutch Slip?

AlexJames

Recommended Posts

Was driving home in my daily (Civic 2.2 CDTI) yesterday and the revs would speed up slightly faster than usual and then drop suddenly (only by about 200 revs), then pick back up again.

My first thought was clutch slip but it only happens in 6th gear on full boost, and only at high speed.

I tried to replicate the problem in a lower gear on full boost but all is fine?

Any ideas?

what your describing is indeed the early stages of clutch slip, well diagnosed.

typically when a clutch is on the way out it starts high up the box and under boost, as the slip gets worse it comes down the gears.

time to change the clutch.

Thank you, I was hoping that someone wouldn't say that :p

I have been told its not the cheapest of jobs on the diesel as you need to change the DMF with it. I am still under my 3 month warranty from the dealership but being able to prove to them its slipping will be a pain! :(
