I've done the searches, linked across to other sites and so on but couldn't see a simple definition of how to remove the side repeaters. I don't need to get the whole things off, just the outer lenses.......

they come off by hand, I put my smoked side repeaters on at Box Hill with no tools. Push hard at the front of the repeater and push in the direction of the back of the car, it pops out nicely. Some aftermarket side repeaters can be difficult to re-attach, so it may need a bit of sanding to make it go back in.

I unbolted the plastic wing-liners enough to get my hand up behind the repeater. I did, however, see this illustrious member, change his side repeaters in a Stevenage car park. Hopefully, he will be along shortly to explain the hazard that he encountered :p

It's really quick, as JB says just push back and pull out. One end has clip that compresses and lets it pop out.

I did one side OK, then on the other side I dropped the loom back inside the wing

With help we got it out, but it's best to make sure it doesn't fall in the first place.

I managed to drop the wire inside the wing as well, had to fish it out with a bent coathanger...

Apart from that it was easy.
