supra87
Hi guys looking for some advice regarding my autobox a340e iv looked through various posts with many different answers.Iv owned my jspec na just over a year it's coming up to 85k I had a partial oil change on the gear box shorty after buying it as i dont have any history regarding maintenance. I have just discoverd theres a filter inside the gearbox that should be replaced. The car atm drives spot on gear changes are smooth and change when they should. Do I leave it and carry on driving it or should I get it changed and potentially stop any problems that may occur in the future. Annabella
I think if there's no clunks or out of the ordinary, just do another 2litre swap, then you'll have 4litres of 'new' atf mixing. When you drain the other 2litre what did it look like? Or do another and see what its like colour wise and sludgy?

Chris Wilson
It's easy enough to change, albeit a bit messy. You will need a new filter and enough special sealant to re-seal the perfectly clean and dry sump pan flange to gearbox casing flange. if it will make you sleep better at night, go for it. If it's not done stellar miles and is changing OK, you might sleep OK even leaving well alone An auto gear box filter that's clogged usually means the `box it's fitted to is near death and it's not worth changing it anyway unless rebuilding the `box too. supra87
Cheers Chris it is worrying me slightly as I haven't any history of it being changed and the oil has seen its best days so will probaly give it a go just for piece of mind
