Glanza_Mike
I wish...... Been with Footman James 3 years now, never made a claim, and this they ask for 90% more than last year.....Cheers. Next best options guys?
Ric
Didnt you just single the car though?
RobMason
Give Admiral a try, I expected to pay that much when I insured my first Supra and was pleasantly surprised to get a quote of just over £300 from Admiral classic. All mods declared, agreed value of 18.5k and you can still use your ncb. I have never had to claim so can't feedback from that point of view but happy with the experience so far. To be fair I didn't try Footman James but Sky couldn't even quote due to my postcode which is crazy! Rob
rider
FJ didn't make my Christmas Card list. LV are still one of the lower cost with a minimum mileage of 5000 a year on classic car insurance and they come near to top on satisfaction surveys. If the Supra is your second car you'd do worse than check out what LV are offering. Admiral were always cheapest for me on a first car, no claims tied to, Supra insurer. Annabella
LV Classic have been good for me and otehrs on here, some people have mixed results with Sky. Both worth a shout at that renewal price.
Frank Bullitt
Maybe try Sky, they seem to be hit and miss but worth a shot.
mplavery
How old are you Mike ? I called them up and they said "New policy we only insure people over 40 on these cars" I said that's the biggest load of bullsh** I have ever heard and slammed the phone down lol
Guest Budz86
Careful with some policies via 'mainstream' brokers as they ask that you declare all mods but small print can say only repaired back to oem standard
Kendo11
Seems like FJ have gone massively downhill recently. Can't wait for my renewal in a few months...
Spunkmeyer
I just had my Flux renewal go from £500 to £675 TPFT (it is for the track car though) A plan (Thatcham branch) just did Comp for £390! Worth a call. Really fast quote. And includes mod value too
Glanza_Mike
Thanks for the tips guys, will be calling round for sure, couldn't believe it when i opened the letter I'll give them a call first and see what they say. Ric this was a like for like quote, i hadn't declared the single turbo yet, going to do it this time round. And Mike i'm 29 so no idea what they're on about 40, i've been insured with them since i was 26.
berg
I'm through Adrian flux but with the same company as you, Ageas They crucified me when I declared my single after mapping it pretty much doubled and they will not do me agreed value etc so I'm living life on the edge at the moment should anything happen with mine 1 month to go though I can't wait
Supra N_A
greenlight is the way to go!
supra87
Iv had the same issue with fj went from 200 to 410 never made a claim. I called them up and asked them what the crack is and they said there is a new law come in regarding classics that are not garaged. This is the reason mine has gone up like many others. I haven't a clue if there was any truth in that or she was just bullshitting me to try and keep my custom She discounted me 20 quid lol. Long story short I've gone with rh specialist insurance they were half the price.
Annabella
There wouldn't be a new 'law' for garaging, they may have changed their rules to say needs garaging. Think bull as you say.
Morpheus
Be careful using Confused.com and potentially others like them as I had at least 9 searches registered on my credit file a day after obtaining a list of quotes at the end of April and subsequently failed a loan application with a perfect credit score of 999 points. Fwiw, my usual broker, Adrian Flux were cheapest at half what the others were apart from one other I can't remember. I could have paid £318 but added optional items including paying by installments up to £390 Fully Comprehensive with 9+ years no claims and I'm 48 with a clean license in Hemel Hempstead, Herts. driving a garaged, unmodified (apart from 19" Jade R wheels and a Cusco front strut brace), factory 114mph speed restricted, imported 1997 TT VVTi Tiptronic. (Obviously I don't drive it in the garage as that would be silly. I mean, I do drive it into the garage, ermm, I mean enough to get it inside the garage and then I stop before I hit the back wall. I did however bump a Ford Granada into my garage once. I swear, it just came out of nowhere! ).
a98pmalcolm
I went with sky again in the end. I did call footman james but they hung up on me
Glanza_Mike
Afternoon chaps i just thought i'd update this now as i've chosen who's going to insure me for the next 12 months. So as for Footman James they sent me that ridiculous double price renewal, without me contacting them about a week later i got another letter with a second renewal somewhere around the £550 mark which was very strange. I rang around a couple companies and ended up going with Adrian Flux, they charged me £460 and that was with an agreed value 50% higher than last year at £18k, i will now accumulate now claims bonus and i get to drive any other vehicle so i thought it was a pretty good price. All mods declared too. If any of you are wanting to compare i'm 29, 0 NCB (as i'd been with a classic car company), no claims, no points, car parked on the road. Check my thread for the cars mods (all important ones declared).
