Whitesupraboy2
I watched qualifying yesterday and from looking at the cars, it looks like should be good racing, no extra air flow bits and they look mean Anyway sky sports 1 first race of day about to start...rolling start
SimonB
One of the cars was at Goodwood this year and I thought it was probably the ugliest looking single seater I've ever seen! It looked bizarre. The concept looks good though, but what's up with a rolling start? How dull...
Whitesupraboy2
Rolling start only for first race, the feature race 38laps and standing start, just heard Street Race in Durban, now that will be good!! and night race in dubai I like the cars they look retro, its bit of shame brands hatch isnt really an overtaking circuit but least they got boost button, ive always liked that idea
SimonB
Oh that's better then. You want to check out the Goodwood revival meeting on bbc 2 now. Can't get more retro than that. Some of the in-car footage just now was really cool too.

Bobbeh
Shame its on sky sports, something else to miss. I saw some Goodwood revival action on ITV today, that was great.
Matt T
Was a good race actually, i didnt expect much of it after seeig the qualifying. Branners
Shame its on sky sports, something else to miss. I saw some Goodwood revival action on ITV today, that was great. indeed, sky sports could be the death of A1 GP, no bugger is going to watch it and I know Im not subscribing to sky sports just to get it. Shame really as I think competition for F1 would be a good thing so they dont get complacent about it. JB
Whitesupraboy2
there was more action in the one race then 3 races of F1 this year, im sure it will on news tonight as was good overtaking and some big crashes

SimonB
Well it's not exactly competition for F1 just yet if it's at Brands! They've only got a couple of bits of scaffolding pretending to be grandstands. Hardly on the same scale. Shame it's on Sky sports otherwise I'd watch it. Who won then? Class One
I read in the paper that the TV rights for the first year was only £1million. However, ITV were never going to bid due to a "conflict of interest" and BBC couldn't bid because its a commercial venture. God knows why Ch4 or Five didn't bid for it. £1 million is chicken feed. CJ
Who won then? Brazil won the first race with Nelson Piquet Jnr in the seat. I really enjoyed it. far more competitive and entertaining than the F1 bore that is currently around.

I dont think the track really makes that much difference to the spectacle of the event, which is why I really never cared if Silverstone got taken off the F1 calendar. Brands is great for actually spectating if they use the indy circuit as you can see most of the circuit from certain vantage points. Whitesupraboy2
It is a real shame that it was on sky sports, there commentry and coverage is bit rusty....But no breaks in the race. A 30min race without a break and then an hour Race without a Break. Good Points: Cars closely matched due to being same Boost button - limited use for overtaking (and it works) Cars sliding round corners as no driver aids Good Safety importantly - seeing as a car done quite a vicous barrell roll into the gravel and he got out fine, though looked shaken. The pit stops - They were all over the shop and changed the race for lots of teams Bad Points: As such i cant think of many downfalls at moment im sure some will come. Overall ill be watching the series and if its back in the UK ill go see it.
Supra_Nish
Just got back from brands having watched this! Was awesome, alot of action. Alot of the teams are very new to motor sport and that could be seen on the track. A great platform for new stars to emerge however. Overall, a great day out
edd_t
Wahey, it was a wicked day there shame about getting out the carpark! must say i like this more than F1 now! anyone gonna be at Brands next week for the BTCC?

I would think a very large proportion of the country has access to Sky nowadays.
tbourner
I went to qualifying and it was pretty empty!! didn't fancy trying to tackle the crowds today!! They're louder than F1 cars!!! Standing just before Stirlings bend the popping noise on overrun echoing against the trees was awesome!!!
Need4Speed
Another one car formula - yawn! I think I'll just stick to MotoGP and WSB.

tbourner
There was also a GT250 race on on Saturday, 2 Moslers and a C5R completely whupped the competition (Porsche, Ferrari and BMW mainly). That was good to see.
paul_y3k
i went as well, was a great day, the racing was prety cool, and their was lots of excitment, spins, spills and shock horror over taking !!! The pitstops were great, Team GB jumped from 3rd to 1st becuase 1st 2nd 3rd all pitted at same time, and 2nd 1st mucked up. I think the only bad thing was the 2.5 hours wait on the M25 to travel 400 yeards and the 3 hours in the car park waiting to get out !!!
