Dnk
What are peoples recommendations for sound proofing ?
el_bandido
I went with dodomat and silentcoat. You don't want to coat absolutely everything in the sound deadening material, as that's just there to remove resonance. Covering everything in it is an utter waste of time and will add a lot of weight that you don't need. What will be beneficial to add as much of is the acoustic foam. I've done half the car (so far) in patches of the sound deadening and a good cover of 20mm foam and it's made an incredible difference. Just doing the doors and rear wheel arches reduced the in car noise to a level close to my Lexus. Once I've done the floor pan, it should be as good as, if not better than it. Frank Bullitt
Silent Coat, can't go wrong. Much better than the Dynomat stuff, easier to work with and you are (unless things have changed) buying British 4mm for floors and 2mm for doors, you can add mats and sound absorber sheets on top. It all depends on how far you want to go. Try to do it on a warm day as it will make the job so much easier, use a hot air gun to warm the sheets before putting them on. Get a roller to help you apply it and above all else a decent pair of gloves otherwise you will cut your hands to shreds.

Hoping to finish in the weekend. I have used dodomat in the boot and rear arches, and stuffed the rear arches with polyester fiber. Also did the transmission tunnel with dodomat, and have some left to use on the doors at some point, depending what results I see.
Glanza_Mike
I used silent coat for everything and it's made a great difference for what it's worth.
