Just get a new mast from toyota.

You can get the mast only and retain the original motor assembly etc.

They are very easy to fit and not that expensive ..... as far as I remember ....... and you know it will fit :-)

I had the same problem last year. No need to remove motor.

Loosen the little ring on the top of the small assembly where the mast goes in to the car. Can do it with a circlip pliers or something similar.

It has 2 slots in it.

Turn on the radio. That should wind the motor out.

Feed in the plastic toothed strip from the new mast into the hole for the old mast. The orientation of this is crucial to correct operation.

Feed it in a bit and poke it about. You will feel it catch.

Turn off the radio and the motor will pull in the new mast.

You might want to get someone else to turn off the radio as someone needs to hold the new mast and feed it in and to keep it vertical.

You can do it yourself but you need to be reasonably quick.

Then tighten the ring you previously loosened.

5 mins :-)
