mc92
The worst part of speeding tickets is what it does to your insurance renewal, especially for younger drivers. I've been lucky enough not to get any yet.
Gaz6002
Nothing new here really, just higher fines for some people who've been driving like idiots anyway. Meh.

evinX
I say this is a good idea, i have a clean driving history and always stick to the limits in the area im in, Nothing winds me up more than a clown in their little carcoon thinking they own the road and come right up behind you. I have nothing to worry about but the speeder will now. Well happy.

They are a real menace, was it just the fine or were they kind enough to give you 3 points to add insult to injury?

Scooter
It annoys me that it's capped, I mean they are effectively trying to punish everyone equally by using a portion of your weekly pay, well when I say everyone it means, those up to 'x' amount, I really don't see why it needs a cap? Convince Pogba to do a ton on the M6 and you could bag over hundred grand for the coffers!?

Convince Pogba to do a ton on the M6 and you could bag over hundred grand for the coffers!? Doing someone for doing 100 on an empty motorway is ridiculous though. It is utterly stupid to have to stick to 70 when you have good conditions and 3 lanes to yourself on a straight piece of road. I'm all for doing people for dangerous driving more often, but you can't catch that with an ANPR or static camera.
jamesmark
Nothing new here really, just higher fines for some people who've been driving like idiots anyway. Meh. This. None of are saints but if we are stupid enough to go at silly speeds where the higher fines are on public roads, no one should ever complain about being caught. If you are caught, no one is to blame but yourself. I think the new system is still very lenient.
ianhid
The other bit is it depends on how they calculate income. I'm on a much lower salary as a company director than when I was employed directly. I still end up with around the same total income if the company does well and pays a dividend.

Tricky-Ricky
Revenue generation pure and simple, and a complete fooking joke, bet all the lawyers are rubbing their hands together in anticipation of all the cases they will be trying to get people out of, as nobody is going to want to pay 2.5K for speeding. Jamesy
I don't really get the new laws on this.... if for numbers sake you earn £1,000 a week and get caught speeding, say 70 in a 50 you will now get fined £1,500 and 3 points instead of £100 and 3 points? What an absolute joke if that's true. Same if you're doing 50 in a 40 etc?
Chris Wilson
A question raised in the pub led to a heated argument. Do you flash on coming cars to warn them of a mobile speed camera ahead of them? I was disappointed not to be flashed over the recent Bank Holiday when I came upon a stealthily concealed copper with a speed gun. Luckily I was within the limit on an A road, but suspect the young chap who had just overtaken may have been less fortunate...
el_bandido
You can get done for warning people about speed cameras now, I'm sure I saw something in the paper about it a while ago. I'll see if I can dig it out.
