Alex_GT
I don't think the turbo model can even get to 170mph.
JasonR24
I don't think the turbo model can even get to 170mph. If I'm correct in thinking it's also gearing isn't it. The 5 NA has a theoretical top speed of 160mph http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35923-Manual-gearbox-ratios Theoretically the 6 speed TT can go nearly 200mph Obviously wheel size and differentials come into play though. Dnk
I don't think the turbo model can even get to 170mph. Once its bpu at around 400 hp it will with a long enough road
el_bandido
The theoretical top speed with 275/35/18 tyres is 173 for a W58 and the NA 5 speed 4.083 diff. I very much doubt he's managed that. I've got a 5 speed NA, but can't test this as it has the speed limit defender cutting in at 112mph. Having had a vvti 2jz IS300, that ran out of puff at about 130 and I can't for the life of me believe there is another 40mph in there in 5th on a Supra. Edit, for comparison: Edited April 24, 2017 by el_bandido (see edit history)
Jellybean
A Skyline is more reliable than a Supra
JasonR24
A Skyline is more reliable than a Supra I don't think he meant on that topic
el_bandido
Having had a look at the 6 speed, I think that would struggle too. Numbers for reference: Edit: This however, seems entirely reasonable:
j_jza80
Once its bpu at around 400 hp it will with a long enough road When they were new, the journo's regularly said that with the limiter removed, they would do 170mph+ (stock).
Dnk
When they were new, the journo's regularly said that with the limiter removed, they would do 170mph+ (stock). Did anyone do it though ? I had 180 + out of mine on the speedo but with 400 + hp
clay
a skyline is more reliable than a supra some one go and kick this man in the nuts.
AC93
I've had 170 from my TT auto (stock), BPU parts are being delivered this week

ibby
I do that in reverse
JasonR24
I actually think it's doable just with a long enough road
el_bandido
I'm not convinced a stock NA 2j has enough beans to kick a Supra to 170, even on a speedway. You'd be on the limiter at 170 and you'd need some big rear tyres.
Chris Wilson
Who knows, some kid said he was giving his teacher one, and everyone in his class laughed, now he's about to be the French President....
Mike2JZ
155 is all that I could get mine to with a GPS @ 6500 in fifth and a very long bit of road. It will get there but takes ages. Most NA clocks I've seen aren't super accurate either, especially with a kph to mph converter
supra_aero
Ive done 140+ in na auto with only exhaust. Reckon it could do over 150 but would need a lot of road. Done 170 in tt6 on runway bpu uk car. Edited April 25, 2017 by supra_aero (see edit history)
