Big Supes
Sorry... didn't want to start another thread, but felt the two items I am asking for advice on needed to be kept separate. I'm after a compressor for my garage to power the odd air tool but to, ultimately, be able to respray a car with no issues. Anyone out there with something ideal? mwilkinson
I bought one of these and for the money it's a steal. http://www.ukhs.tv/Dakota-14-CFM-Air-Compressor I use it to run a soda blaster in a frost blasting cabinet. It does this without issue. It also runs of a 13a supply. Don't know about spraying a car, but I'm sure it would be OK. Might look for the 150 ltr model. Those specs will be good enough to respray a car for sure. Thanks mate.
rider
The only thing you need to look at when buying an air compressor is the cfm rating. Anything at or above 14 and you will be fine running most air tools. Spray painting you can get away with lower. A decent size receiver tank is a useful buffer, to give you more time before running out of puff if your air tool uses more air then the compressor can replensih. I always go for 14 cfm with a 50l minimum tank. Big Supes
Yep. Most people seem to think 12-14 cfm is adequate for spraying for a car.
mwilkinson
FYI it comes with two female Euro connectors. I've retained the Euro connectors but you might need to change these if you have existing equipment.

I only have an air blower tool, but I don't think it's difficult to change the fitting.
mwilkinson
That's worth knowing, thanks. I only have an air blower tool, but I don't think it's difficult to change the fitting. Fittings are cheap as chips from eBay or amazon. I have also bought an inline pressure regulator/moisture trap. The compressor does have an inbuilt regulator, so you could just get a moisture trap but I wanted the regulator to be away from the compressor and closer to the blast cabinet. Big Supes
Yeah, I'll definitely grab a few fittings from eBay or if they have some down at Machine Mart when I'm over there tomorrow. I'll definitely get a moisture trap for the time being. When it comes to purchasing the spraying equipment I'll look into what is the best set up for the job.
