a98pmalcolm
Hi all. I have an electrical issue so was wondering if anyone can advise. Alarm is not getting power Drivers Window wont go up Central locking not working 3 dash lights 1. Battery, 2.Rear light warning 3. Cat temp warning Thanks Paul SOLVED: Main fuse went at the side (the big amp one) in the engine bay fuse box. Electric window switch gone faulty is a coincidence, better start the hunt. mellonman
When all the dash lights come up normally indicates alterator issues . Is the batery dead? If not then for sure you have a earth /sort problem maybe something on the larger size as a fuse has not blown .
j_jza80
Doesn't sound like just alternator to me, I don't see how that would affect window operation. It could be an alternator / crank pulley issue combined with something else though. First thing to do is check all the fuses, engine bay and drivers footwell, and go from there. a98pmalcolm
Thanks guys, all fuses check ect and the car still drives. I did disconnect the alternator power connection before this all happened, maybe it touched an earth and tripped something.
j_jza80
The issues with your locks and window could be alarm related, but i doubt the dash lights would come on.
T2 MSW
Have you checked the fuse for the alarm as normally they are separate and either in the alarm or its wiring loom. What alarm is it?

Would double check everything that you touched at this point
j_jza80
My dash lights all went crazy when my alternator went tits up! That's a common sympton of alternator / belt / crank pulley issues, but it doesn't explain the other issues (if they are linked)

j_jza80
Why did the fuse go? And how do you know the window switch is at fault? Perhaps some wiring has become exposed and caused a short? Unlikely, but worth having a poke around if you're removing the doorcard anyway.

I have already removed the door car and the Alarm guys used a tool to reverse the power on the cable going into the door card switch and the window went up when we clicked the window to go down. The switch does feel a little loose when using the up switch. So its deffo the switch. Its nice when people update the threads thanks No problem, I like to update encase someone googles it in future
stevie_b
Why did the fuse go? I did disconnect the alternator power connection before this all happened, maybe it touched an earth and tripped something. This could be the cause, I can believe shorting the alternator power could blow the main fuse.
a98pmalcolm
This could be the cause, I can believe shorting the alternator power could blow the main fuse. Yer I stupidly balance the cable and it slipped off were I balanced it and I heard a pop, so I'm 99% sure, £200 lesson learnt..
mellonman
£200 for a fuse holy moly
