Samurai 20V
Hi guys. Have a friend who is struggling with his J spec BPU TT, its only making 0.4 bar. The boost controller has been removed, it was running over 1.0bar.. He has changed all the accessible vac pipes, the pressure tank & IACV with known working parts. The link pipes also have been changed. The 2nd cat was still installed, this has now been changed to a 76mm decat. The car makes 0.4 bar in TTC, and 0.2 bar in sequential. The pressure tank seems to be holding boost, when in TTC, if a vac line is pulled there is a strong swoosh. There was no smoke, no death whines.. Any ideas what would be wrong? It might a popped turbo, but how to make sure? Thanks.
safcdixon
Test the vsvs, theres a guide on here somewhere on how to do it, one of mine became unplugged last year (the clip broke) it wouldnt boost past .5 so could be a similar problem

I guess there is an issue with the VSV's, but that should be bypassed in TTC. The wastegate VSV is the only one left to check I guess, maybe thats worth testing.. My issue was blocked turbo pipes. Not sure that will be your issue though and worth checking the exhaust valve, that was knackered too. The EGCV seems ok, its holding open when changing to TTC. Will try to test it as well. The turbo pipes have been changed to new parts.. Pulley
Check if the wastegate is stuck open maybe? Or condition of the turbo turbines
